WHO’s Special Envoy On COVID-19 Urges World Leaders To ‘Stop Using Lockdowns'(VIDEO)

Here’s something that you’re unlikely to see on CNN.

While the Media (D) continues to turn up the pandemic panic porn to 11 and lecture us to “trust the experts,” they’re not covering what the experts are actually saying.

Sunday, October 11, 2020 marks 209 days since the “15 days to slow the spread” of the virus from Wuhan, China that became a global pandemic because of the bungled response and outright lies by the Chinese Communist Party.

Dr. David Nabarro, the World Health Organization’s Special Envoy on COVID-19, appeared in an interview with Andrew Neil of The Spectator and said that the pandemic and the response to it has been absolutely devastating on extremely vulnerable people — the global poor.

He says that lockdowns should only be used to buy some time to prepare healthcare services to deal with the outbreak.

NEIL: But we had Professor Sunetra Gupta from Oxford University on and she was implying — and I’m interested in you because you have a global mandate, a global view — was that a problem that we don’t think about in lockdowns is that they’re very nationalistic. That if we locked down our economy, then it hits our economy but it also means we’re not buying stuff, we’re not trading with weaker economies. We are not just destroying our own jobs, we’re destroying the jobs of all those in the poorer parts of the world that export to us. That seemed to me to be a reasonable point.

NABARRO: Really important point by Professor Gupta. I want to say it again: we in the World Health Organization do not advocate lockdowns as the primary means of control of this virus. The only time we believe a lockdown is justified is to buy you time to reorganize, regroup, rebalance your resources; protect your health workers who are exhausted. But by and large, we’d rather not do it. Just look at what’s happened to the tourism industry for example in the Caribbean, or in the Pacific because people aren’t taking their holidays. Look what’s happened to smallholder farmers all over the world because their markets have got dented. Look what’s happening to poverty levels — it seems that we may well have a doubling of world poverty by next year. We may well have at least a doubling of child malnutrition because children are not given meals at school and their parents, in poor families, are not able to afford it. This is a terrible, ghastly global catastrophe, actually. And so, we really do appeal to all the world leaders: stop using lockdown as your primary control method. Develop better systems for doing it. Work together and learn from each other, but remember, lockdowns have one consequence that you must never ever belittle, and that is making poor people an awful lot poorer.

Dr. Nabarro was speaking of large-scale rather than targeted lockdowns in a locality with an outbreak.

This comes after thousands of medical experts have raised the alarm on the devastating effect of lockdowns in the Great Barrington Declaration.

We also know that extended lockdowns have had a negative effect on mental health causing depression, anxiety, social isolation, suicidal ideation, and an increase in drug use. It’s been very difficult for everyone, but teens are at particular risk.

Dr. Nabarro says that the SARS CoV-2 virus doesn’t behave like other viruses, and we could be dealing with it for some time, but we cannot continue to institute lockdowns as the primary means of controlling the virus. He says that we should focus on testing, contact tracing, quarantining those who are infected, and continue practicing basic, common-sense practices like handwashing and staying home if you’re not well. He also advocates for social distancing and mask-wearing.

He also said that governments need to figure out how to balance the level of the risk of the spread of the virus and keeping economies going.
