This young lady is standing up for what she believes in and it could get her expelled.

Grace Smith is a 16-year old junior at Laramie High School in Laramie, Wyoming. She is a straight “A” student who loves dance and theater… but does not like her school’s mask mandate.

She has never broken the law before, but since masks were made mandatory on September 8 of this year, she has racked up three two-day suspensions, $1,000 in trespassing fines, and was perp-walked out of the school and taken to jail after triggering a 90-minute schoolwide lockdown on Thursday.

[Grace] followed the first suspension, but contested the next two.

‘I just left,’ the teen told the Laramie Boomerang about her first run-in with administrators. ‘Then, after talking with our attorney, we decided to push it, so on Tuesday I didn’t (leave) and took the citation for $500 and then left.’

On Thursday, she got another ticket but refused to leave, prompting a showdown in the middle of the school building.

The incident was captured on video in two segments. The first was recorded by Grace herself, and the second by her father, Andy.

Grace says that God-given rights are being eroded by these mandates. She won’t back down even if it means she gets expelled — just two more two-day suspensions would get her to that point.

Explaining her beliefs, Smith said: ‘It’s because I’m growing up in a country where I’m supposed to have my God-given rights to protect, and they’re being taken away.

‘Everybody has the freedom to wear a mask if they choose, but I believe everybody also has the right to not wear a mask if they choose.’

Grace now faces the possibility of expulsion, which kicks in after 10 days of suspension. She’s racked up six during the course of her crusade.

She says that the decision to hold firm to her convictions is hers alone, but she has the support of her parents.

She also says that it isn’t just costing her class time — she’s become somewhat of a social pariah and has faced harassment from both students and teachers.

The teenager said she’s paid a price for her anti-mask convictions.

‘I get cussed out a lot,’ she told the Boomerang. ‘People have called me mean names. Nobody has physically harmed me, but some of my best friends now won’t talk to me.

‘The discrimination from the teachers is just absurd,’ Grace added. ‘I had one teacher who tried to force a mask onto my face.’

As of Tuesday morning, over $60,000 has been raised on GiveSendGo, (a Christian crowdfunding site,) for Grace.

The donation page says:

Grace is a high school junior. She is a beautiful young lady who is kind, caring, and compassionate. She loves dance and theater and is a good student. Grace has chosen to exercise her rights and attend school without wearing a mask. The local school board has voted to enforce a universal mask policy that we believe is unlawful and in violation of the constitution of the state of Wyoming.

Grace has endured suspensions and was arrested for not wearing a mask. She has also been targeted by peers and school staff members for exercising her rights. Grace is raising funds to help with the legal cost of defending her civil liberties and the civil liberties of other students in Wyoming who are enduring the same unlawful treatment. By supporting this fight for their liberties, you are helping ensure the rights of every citizen of the state of Wyoming.

We appreciate your support, and Wyoming needs more Grace!

That last line is almost right — everywhere needs more Grace.

Biblical Badasses: The Women

In Doug Giles’ latest book, Biblical Badasses: The Women, Giles spotlights ten epic ladies who did awesome things for God with the odds severely stacked against them. These girls weren’t your typical church ladies. They were holy movers and shakers who upset hell with their God-honoring, faith-filled, lives. Giles’ unique take on these terrific women makes the scripture come alive. This book is real, raw, relevant, and irreverent. Giles’ prayer is that after reading, Biblical Badasses: The Women, not only will your noggin be filled with these amazing tales of high and lows from real women who rocked in a hard place, via the power of God, but that you will get off your butt, quit pursuing stupidity, start chasing down your high calling and at the end of your life, you too, like the holy femme fatales featured herein, will have left a massive scar on Satan’s haggard backside.
