The success of Trump has blazed a trail for a new kind of Conservative — the kind that fights back against the media muckraking and intimidation tactics.

It’s true that Gov DeSantis gets a lot of attention for how he handles the media, and rightly so. But DeSantis is not the only one dunking on them as though it were an NBA All-Star skills competition.

Soon-to-be Governor of Arizona, Kari Lake makes her interactions with the press look easy — embarrassingly so. Remember that episode of Seinfeld where Kramer was in karate class, sparring against children?

Yep. It was a lot like that.

Kari Lake is fearless in the face of media as Trump. While her opponent carefully hides from anyone that would take her away from her talking points, especially Kari, the Republican candidate for Governor goes into the belly of the beast and invites people to ask her literally anything at her innumerable public appearances.

The media has a habit of marching lockstep with whatever the current talking points are, which actually makes it easier to anticipate the gotcha questions. Unlike the carefully edited made-for-TV interviews we see for so many dubious Democrat candidates, we know this is done in one take because we see her walking up and getting started.

The setting was an Ask Me Anything presser following a Black Voices for Kari event on October 17.

The press came right out of the gate with a gotcha question. This time, it they pulled out another tired old trope that so many skittish Republicans run away from — the ‘dangerous charge of Election Denier’.

Lake didn’t even bat an eye. She was ready. She called on Anthony from her staff to hand her a folder he had prepared, opened it, and unloaded on them.

‘Let’s talk about election deniers’, she said at the 1:07 mark. If they were hoping she would deny, apologize, or try to explain away her belief that there were problems with the 2020 election, they were very much mistaken.

She answered the question according to HER rules, not theirs. (Pay attention Republicans.)

She held up hard-copy example after hard-copy example of Democrats doing exactly the thing that gets Republicans tagged as insurrectionists and threats to Democracy… with a heavy emphasis on a couple of favorite Democrat darlings or icons.

Then Lake pivoted from the ‘election denier’ problem to a bipartisan SOLUTION:
‘all we are asking is that in the future we don’t have to have that happen anymore. When I’m Governor, we’re going to make sure we have honest elections. We want the Democrats, the Independents, and the Republicans to all know that their vote counted. We want fair, honest and transparent elections and we’re going to deliver that for the people. But just remember guys this is one page after Hillary Clinton says George W Bush was SELECTED President, not elected so let’s start, if you’re going to throw around terms like ‘election denier’ let’s remember who the other election deniers were: Hillary Clinton and all the Democrats.

Boom!

There was more ground to cover in those 15 minutes, including:

3:10 Asking about the comparative media silence on the proven history of her opponent’s racism (‘twice-convicted racist’) and how that would be the story every day if Lake had been the one with that history.

5:04 Two questions: how do you hold elected officials accountable at the State level and the second, ideology question (6:06) you’ve talked a lot about spirituality, this seems like it is one of your main messaging strategies…how much weight do you think the spiritual component carries compared to the practical issues like economy, inflation, crime, etc?

7:36 Will you respect the election results (another gotcha)

8:00 A question about her thoughts on the credibility of claims made in 2000 Mules

8:26 A question about the Mexican government suing Arizona over gun sales, in which she called Arizona a ‘sanctuary state for the Second Amendment’

10:00 Tulsi Gabbard’s endorsement

12:00 How she will address fatherlessness and encourage the preservation of intact families at the State level

12:56 A defund the police question

Biblical Badasses: The Women

In Doug Giles’ latest book, Biblical Badasses: The Women, Giles spotlights ten epic ladies who did awesome things for God with the odds severely stacked against them. These girls weren’t your typical church ladies. They were holy movers and shakers who upset hell with their God-honoring, faith-filled, lives. Giles’ unique take on these terrific women makes the scripture come alive. This book is real, raw, relevant, and irreverent. Giles’ prayer is that after reading, Biblical Badasses: The Women, not only will your noggin be filled with these amazing tales of high and lows from real women who rocked in a hard place, via the power of God, but that you will get off your butt, quit pursuing stupidity, start chasing down your high calling and at the end of your life, you too, like the holy femme fatales featured herein, will have left a massive scar on Satan’s haggard backside.
