LMAO: Elon Musk Tags Canadian Broadcasting Corporation As ‘69% Government-Funded Media’

It’s now quite apparent that government-funded media doesn’t like it when someone reveals that they are government-funded.

For years, Chinese propaganda outlets like CGTN, Global Times, and CCTV have been labeled “China state-affiliated media” on Twitter.

The label of “government-funded” media is being applied to news outlets that receive funding from the government but maintain some degree of independence.

Despite the clear difference, it has upset some news outlets who are indignant that it casts a shadow on their independence.

It was just a few days ago that NPR balked at the “Government-funded” label placed on its Twitter account and insisted that it provides “independent journalism every day in service to the public.”

NPR called RT and Sputnik News are “Kremlin-backed” news agencies.

So, why is it okay to label RT and Sputnik as “Kremlin-backed” but it’s not okay to put a label that NPR receives government funding?

Should social media platforms label all news organizations that receive government funding, or just the ones that are seen as “propaganda” outlets?

For Twitter 2.0 in the Elon Musk era, the answer seems to be that there should be one standard — label them all.

On Monday, Twitter announced that the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) has suspended its use of the platform after being labeled “government-funded” last week.

In the thread, the Twitter Daily News account gave an explanation of why the label was applied to the Canadian broadcaster which is wholly owned by the federal government but is structured as a private company. (These are known as “Crown corporations.”)

The thread also made the distinction between the tags “government-funded” and “state-affiliated.”

In a response to the thread, Twitter user @itsALLrisky suggested that they should be labeled as 69% government-funded since it’s less than 70%.

Meme-loving Musk replied and the label was changed.

The CBC was not very happy with this turn of events.

As a Canadian, you should understand that the CBC is basically unwatchable because of its overt leftwing bias and the constant pushing of wokeness like the gender confusion crap and the anti-white neo-racism.

Here’s just a sample of one recent awards show that featured Samantha Bee, a bunch of gender confused individuals, and Drag Queens, of course.  (By the way, what’s Samantha Bee doing back here? Didn’t we dump her unfunny @$$ on you guys?!)

The CBC is heavily funded by the Canadian federal government and could not compete with private broadcasters if the taxpayer spigot was turned off… which is precisely what the Conservative Party of Canada has been calling for.

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre tweeted about the original “government-funded” tag attached to the CBC’s main account.

Blackface Hitler weighed in defending his pet media outlet that couldn’t survive without government funding and used the opportunity to take a swipe at his major political rivals at the same time.

Twitter users and Meme Lords responded positively to the news:

As I see it, Elon Musk, who seems to actually value free speech as a necessity for a functioning democracy, has enraged a bunch of Regime Propagandists wearing a media organization skinsuit. They’re just mad that he revealed that they couldn’t function without taxpayer dollars and whether they realize it or not, that will colour how they frame the news. After all, they know where their bread is buttered.

These government-funded Regime Media outlets would rather you not know that their funding might tip the scale on how and what they report. They’d rather keep you in the dark.

And if that’s the case, then who do you trust — the government-funded outlets or Twitter’s clear label?

Twitter has certainly changed since Musk spent $44 billion to buy the platform.

While the changes have enraged the left, a lot of conservatives are welcoming the changes.

The left-tilting social media outlets certainly needed a rude awakening… and Elon certainly gave that to Twitter.

John The Baptist: A Rude Awakening Precedes A Great Awakening.

This timely little tome chronicles the politically incorrect ministry of one of God’s most effective wildmen, John the Baptist, who prepared the way for Christ’s ministry.

The abrasive message of repentance John preached 2000 years ago is still confrontational and offensive today — but it is also life-changing.

In our putrid, worldly culture that has turned away from God, this book is a must-read for every Christian.

Available in paperback for those of you who like the feel of the pages in your hot, little hands, on Kindle to keep it right at your fingertips, and as an epic Audiobook.
