DHS Hides New Ammo Purchase Following Controversy

The Department of Homeland Security has redacted information relating to the quantity of bullets it is buying following a controversy concerning the agency’s purchase of over a billion rounds of ammo, which many fear is a sign the federal government is preparing for civil unrest in the United States.

Despite the fact that documents are only supposed to be redacted if authorized by Congress or for national security reasons, a solicitation posted on the FedBizOpps website yesterday concerning ammunition purchases made by the DHS on behalf of Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) contains numerous blacked out sections.

The classified portions of the document include references to the amount of 223 62 and 223 64 grain ammunition being purchased.

The solicitation explains how the contract put out by the DHS to purchase the ammunition was not subject to “full and open competition,” a process justified by what the DHS claims was an “unusual and compelling urgency” to acquire the bullets, noting that there is a shortage of bullets which is threatening a situation which could cause “substantial safety issues for the government” should law enforcement officials not be adequately armed.

The Department of Homeland Security’s decision to black out sections of the document, including the number of bullets being purchased, is likely to be related to a massive controversy which has snowballed over the last few weeks pertaining to concerns as to why the federal agency has purchased well over a billion rounds of bullets over the last 6 months alone.

The DHS’ decision back in March to purchase of 450 million rounds of .40-caliber hollow point bullets that are designed to expand upon entry and cause maximum organ damage prompted questions as to why the federal agency required such powerful bullets and in such large quantities merely for training purposes.

This was followed up by a more recent order for a further 750 million rounds of assorted ammunition, including bullets that can penetrate walls.

Given the fact that the DHS is also acquiring riot gear in preparation for civil unrest which could take place at the upcoming DNC, RNC and presidential inauguration, the purchase of ammunition in such massive numbers has stoked fears that the federal government could be preparing to use force against the American people.

This screenshot illustrates how the DHS has blacked out information pertaining to the amount of bullets being purchased.

The trigger for this could be an economic collapse that causes angry Americans to flood the streets similar to scenes witnessed across Europe over the last two years.

As Mike Adams writes, “The U.S. government clearly sees the writing on the wall. What lays ahead for America is a day of unbearable reckoning. The financial collapse will wipe out savings accounts, pensions, investment funds and equities of the working class, all across the nation. Imagine bank accounts being reset to zero, “bank holidays” enforced at gunpoint. That will unleash a wave of violent protests, social chaos and even talk of revolution. The government will almost certainly respond with a declaration of Martial Law, the rolling out of highway checkpoints, and before long, the use of live ammo on unruly protesters.”

The Social Security Administration has also recently purchased a large quantity of hollow point bullets, potentially signaling that authorities fear welfare riots could occur if benefit payments cannot be made. The NOAA also recently purchased 46,000 rounds of hollow point ammunition.

The DHS’ decision to censor information related to bullet purchases for immigration authorities could also be an attempt to assuage concerns that the agency is expecting to have to resort to force to deal with a mass influx of immigrants from Mexico.

Back in December, Department of Homeland Security chief Janet Napolitano directed ICE to prepare for a substantial inundation of immigrants into the United States, calling for the plan to deal with the “shelter” and “processing” of large numbers of people.

Hollow point ammo is not used by the military as it is banned by the Geneva Convention.

Further, nobody does extended target practice with hollow point ammo due to the significantly higher cost over standard rounds.

This ain’t rocket science, these rounds are likely for ‘domestic use’ .

Nope you are wrong thewre buddy and I am not a bleeding liberal, but could see this ammunition being used to secure the government thugs in power. But “target practice” is done with hollow point ammunition, especially whey you ain’t paying for it, but seriously the courts have held that piece officers that carry firearms MUST qualify with the EXACT same ammunition they carry on duty, DUH hollow point ammunition. Now how often do they have to qualify, well the more often the better, not for our safety, they couldn’t give a tinkers damn, but it keeps the lawsuits off the empty suits at the top of the government agancies. So the common man does not shoot hollow point ammunition to stay proficient (target practice), governmen is required to by tort law.

      • fliteking

Thanks for your feedback Richard. Feel free to believe what you want, but consider the following.

        Let’s break this down.
When I still needed to qualify we used ’round ball ammo’ even though we often carried different loads. Never once did I qualify with hollow point ammo, this with 2 different agencies. It is dangerous and expensive stuff.

Further, when qualifying with the 12 gauge shot gun we used bird shot, yet carried buck shot when on missions.

Now, why would you suppose Social Security* would require 174,000 rounds of 357 Sig HP ammo? Read the number again champ, 174,000 rounds. How many officers are they ‘qualifying’ ? I used to routinely qualify with 40 rounds or less.

Some other quick quotes for you chief:
“The agency has also been ordering bulletproof traffic-stop booths, riot gear and .357-Magnum ammunition capable of shooting through a wall. ”

“The DHS has an obvious use for such ammo, but the large quantity has raised eyebrows in Congress and among Obama Administration detractors.”

“Most worrisome in my viewpoint is the arming of the Social Security Administration. Earlier this month, Reuters revealed that U.S. regulators have ordered five of the country’s largest banks to prepare plans for surviving an economic collapse, stressing that they couldn’t count on the government for help.
The previously secret program has been in the works for two years, according to Reuters. The large order of ammo for the SSA, and its planned dispersal to so many offices, raises a question of whether the SSA is anticipating the proverbial well running dry and ensuing civil unrest.”

*NOAA needs 46,000 rounds of ammo? Really?

  • pearl87

It is a very bad sign when a govt agency which exists to protect domestic tranquility is arming itself for a prolonged war. I think there can be no doubt there is an intention to inflict heavy casualties on American citizens and I cannot contemplate a scenario under which that would be justifiable unless, as a Muslim jihadist, one was trying to overthrow a legitimate citizen govt.

  • GDC

They may find it will be used against them!

  • Patricia McGehee

I would imagine people will learn what the ammo is for when Obama loses the election and must leave the White House. The Radical Left have waited too long for this coup. When Obama loses, the coup will no longer be bloodless. They are going to be prepared for battle.

    • 19gundog43

It is possible we may never get to the actual election process. If His
Royal Assholeness sees he is losing big time there are a number of false flag
that can be put in place to call for marshal law and suspend the election, “for
the safety of the population”. We are seeing signs of this already in the mass
shootings lately. Obama has been put in place by very powerful people and they
are not going to let him leave until THEY say so. Be ready for a very bumpy next
few weeks. Lock and load because the next revolution won’t be fought with
Resistance to tyranny is obedience to God.

      • Former Lady Law

Absolutely right on with your last sentence & the rest of your
posting. There’s chatter about what happens BETWEEN the
ELECTION and swearing in of the new pres, let alone the
“September Surprisei?” Any comments on this wee “warning?”
Gotta hand it to the Seals! They’ve got more guts than anyone
I can think of! Way to go guys!

        • 19gundog43

Haven’t heard any chatter about the time between the election and swearing in but anything is possible with this gang of thugs. We do have to keep Obama safe. God help us if Joe the moron meat shield were to become President. Agggggggh

  • tanstaafl2

Even if you weren’t disturbed by DHS purchasing such massive quantities of ammo, you SHOULD at least be disturbed, as a taxpayer, by their claim that they are purchasing hollow-point anti-personnel ammo for training and practice, rather than training with ball ammo that costs about half as much.

  • TexasJester

“The Social Security Administration has also recently purchased a large quantity of hollow point bullets, potentially signaling that authorities fear welfare riots could occur if benefit payments cannot be made. The NOAA also recently purchased 46,000 rounds of hollow point ammunition.”

Really?? SOCIAL SECURITY ADMINISTRATION and NOAA need hollow-point ammo???? SSA must know that lots of “seniors” (like my mom) are armed to the teeth, and won’t take kindly to being told that all that money they paid into the system won’t be given back to them.

NOAA probably realizes that us conservatives don’t like them spreading “man-made global warming” crap – especially when it cones down to the Gubmint taxing us for exhaling CO2.

And DHS doesn’t need to worry about conservatives protesting outside the democraptic convention – WE aren’t violent. They need to worry about the socioprogressive democraps protesting against US. (Example: Glenn Beck has had 3 major gatherings in the last couple of years – with tens or hundreds of thousands of people in one small area. NO reported crimes AT ALL. the places were cleaner when they left than they were before they got there. Compare to OWS and other liberal gatherings – with only 2-10% of the people gathered, the locations were rife with crime – including rape and murder; the trash left needed to be cleaned up by suited biohazard teams.)

I really would like to know (1) if this purchase was an open bid or simply awarded; (2) who/what company is the contractor; and (3) who are the owners of the contractor. Didn’t Soros recently make a big investment in several arms companies?

  • PWe72

Okay massa, who yanked my comment and why? I would think that knowing how the contract for such a large value purchase was awarded is very important to us the taxpayers. Likewise, the identification of the contractor and the true owners is pertinant information. I also think the reported recent investments by one confessed war criminal, George Soros in arms companies is not to be ignored.

    • PWe72

My sincere apologies bossman/lady. I reset after the first posting a then couldn’t find it. I couldn’t understand what I had done wrong to cause my comment to be censored.

    What’s up with that?????????????????????

At least 30% of them would fire on the civilian population NO QUESTIONS ADKED. However they forget that about 60% of service members will shoot back at them.

Don’t want to be a conspiricist, but has anyone considered this could be another nefarious way to gun control by overloading (no pun intended) the demand for ammo? Remember the shortages of all military grades and calibers of ammo just 10 years ago?

  • big jack

I didn’t give much thought to the different agencies purchasing ammo but it seems like it’s a bigger deal once I saw the agencies coming out and trying to explain why they were making such purchases. These agencies have been around for awhile and you wonder why we haven’t heard about previous purchases, very curious, don’t you think?
