For example to cut the deficit by not increasing the debt would mean welfare, medicare and/or social security checks would bounce. The media then blames conservatives for starving old and handicapped people. That is what happened in 1996 when the “contract with America” exploded on the scene and then fizzaled. Even though the conservatives won by a landslide the media was spinning the threat as cold hearted rich people punishing the poor. We must create a strong economy and put people back to work before slowing the entitlements. America needs one honest TV channel tha’s free ABC, NBC or CBS. We will not survive without the people seeing the other side of the culture war. Pass it on.

      I am retired and I receive social security benefits. I paid into these for over 50 years. This is not an entitlement!!!! In fact my husband did too and he didn’t live to get his and because he passed before he was listed as disabled from stage 4 lung cancer and they approved him as disabled after he passed they cut my check 500.00 dollars. This is cash from my pay check and my husbands and our employers for the same length of time 50 years or more. I am sick and tired of it being called an entitlement since both I, my husband and our employers put the money there in the first place. Now if Congress had kept their dirty little hands off of it and not used it for what ever the hell they wanted to there would still be billions in there because not everyone has lived to retirement that put money in there. Why shouldn’t we get a check for the money that was put aside for us.by us and our employers???? In fact if we had put it in a bank account with just our names on it we would be millionaires. How do you think we retired feel when they have used money for anything that they wanted to out of an account that was suppose to be just for us?????? Then they call it an entitlement!!!!! I’m mad as hell over this and if you were in my shoes you would be too.

        I mostly agree Jane. I have 40 years of contributing into SS and have been on Oxygen for 13. I now work from home on the phone and computer. I may not ever see any SS payments because they keep raising the age to draw. Did you know SS was originally
        (FDR era) promised to be locked away and tax free when collected? But, sixty
        years of Democrat control of the House and Senate, plus signing by LBJ, Carter
        and Clinton, the rules changed and the lock box dropped. Now, everyone who’d
        rather do drugs, mental illness or alcohol than work gets SS disability or
        whatever you want to call it. Plus, you and GW Bush are right. If you had put the money in private
        investments you’d get way more and when you die your family would keep it. The
        way it is now SS is a Ponsi scheme. Remember when
        Bush tried “hope and change” with SS by putting 3% of it in private sources.
        Bush was vilified by the liberal media and the average American turned against
        smart SS reform. Which again proves my original point. The liberal media is
        corrupt and destroying mankind. I rest my case. Thanks for caring.

Ever notice that every terrible story is either started or ended by a request for money? There are those getting rich by stirring you up as they run to the bank. To be honest, the whole approach leaves me cold. Using your breasts to attract attention is sleazy and shows a lack of values. Calling human beings “bitches” may seem to be contemporary, ‘with it’ and cool, but it is the wrong message. The process is as important as the product (message). I want my conservative leaders, whether political or social to walk-the-walk. That means making committed, respectful relationships and having lots and lots of babies they raise with the best values. The problem is that the so called “conservative” leadership is not about representing the constituents but those that enrich them. They have all been compromised and will do as they are told , just like the dems but with different handlers, and you will keep wondering why they capitulate.
