And you thought the pink elephants were bad.
A leopard that seems to only target drunk men has been ripping its way through the Didihat region in Kumaon hills of India. The apex predator is believed to have killed a dozen villagers – most of who were loaded – in the past two and a half years. The attacks have all been in the evening when the drunk men are ambling home. Because of this, most villagers make it a point to reach home before sundown.
The Uttarakhand Forest Department officially declared the leopard a man-eater last month and issued a kill order on it but has been unsuccessful. Pithoragarh’s District Forest Officer Y.K. Singh told Daily Mail India, “This month we had sent a team of shooters in the affected village, but they were unsuccessful in their mission. This is the third attempt made so far.”
