WOW: Atheists Hand Out Pamphlet to Public School Kids, ‘An X-Rated Book: Sex & Obscenity In the Bible’

I wonder what Jesus thinks about this. Check it out…

One particular pamphlet, titled “An X-Rated Book: Sex and Obscenity in the Bible,” depicts a living Bible reaching its hands up the skirt of a woman.

According to FFRF (Freedom from Religion Foundation), it is meant to shed light on what the organization considers to be inappropriate content in the Bible, including mentions of sexual activity, nudity, and circumcision.

FFRF Legal Council Andrew Seidel explained to CNS News:

“I think if you look at the content of that brochure and what is actually in the Bible, and some of the things that are in the Bible in terms of sex and compare that to the cover [of the pamphlet], the cover is pretty tame compared to anything that is in the Bible,” he told CNS. “I think the bottom line is, you can’t consider any of our materials obscene when compared to the Bible.”

Seidel contended that despite the fact that the material may offend Christians, it is only fair since atheists feel the same way when Bibles are handed out in public schools.

“I think we recognize that it might upset some people, but the Bible upsets many, many non-believers, especially when it’s being pushed in the public schools.”

These moves by the FFRF have not gone unanswered by OCPS, which moved forward to ban the material from being handed out. This prompted FFRF to file suit on June 13, 2013 against OCPS on the basis of discrimination and violation of First and Fourth Amendment rights.
