‘WE THE PEOPLE’ ACTING LIKE THE BOSS: Holding Lying Politicians Accountable

The past seven years have given voters many broken political promises. A promises B to C and then A decides to flip flop or just plain lie about the matters that most concern their constituents.

In the case of the passage of Obamacare or, as they would now like for it to be called, “Affordable Healthcare Act”, voters lit up the phone lines and wrote both emails and snail mails advising against the bill. Regardless, it was passed.

This has become the rule, rather than the exception on the Beltway.

Has everyone forgotten that the 10th amendment allows the voters power to recall a representative that fails to live up to the expectations and promises?

“The powers not delegated to the United States Constitution nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”

It seems that the PEOPLE have forgotten that they are the boss, and elected officials are accountable to THE PEOPLE.

If an employee is hired by a company because they say they have the credentials and experience to fulfill a job, then said employee is hired in good faith that he or she can produce in a promised fashion.

If the employee cannot or will not perform in the manner expected of them, they would be summarily fired and denied unemployment benefits in most cases.

It seems that the American People have forgotten how to act like a boss.

It is impossible to escape from verbal promises these days. Sound bites and video live forever. In every case where an elected official fails to perform, there should be a hearing or town hall meeting of the voters. The elected official in question should have to be mandatorily present. He or she should be required to take questions and answer allegations.

By rule of majority, the constituents of said elected officials should vote as to whether or not to instigate a recall investigation. If majority rules in favor, proceedings should be undertaken to investigate the allegations against the elected official by the people.

If allegations prove true, the official should be recalled.

Until the American People get some teeth and remember who is in charge, nothing will change. Complacency and apathy will not repair the damage that has been done to the United States by the people ALLOWING the rampant misuse and misappropriation by those who have been entrusted to see to the people’s common welfare.

Patrick Henry said, “The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government – lest it come to dominate our lives and interests.”

It appears that we are at such a pass and no one is paying attention nor exercising their Constitutional rights. It is the duty of every citizen to control the explosion and tyranny of government.

It is time for We the People to start acting like the boss using the power given to us by our Founding Fathers and take back America!
