Imagine you’re at a store. You take your items to the check-out and the clerk happily completes your transaction. The price tag said $50, factor in whatever the sales tax is and WHAT? $122.98!
You: Excuse me but I think you overcharged me.
Clerk: No I didn’t.
How would that make you feel? That the clerk lied to you that way?
What then does it say about us as a people, that a lie is treated as a moral victory? Hillary lied to the American people and it was revealed that way during her testimony. She told Americans that Benghazi occurred because of an internet video that allegedly outraged the Islamic world. And she did so even as she delivered another rationale for the attack when she communicated privately.
Today she is asking Americans to vote with her, and to invest their trust in her. Would you cast your vote with the store and the clerk that lied when you discovered you were overcharged? Would you shop there again, and again, and again, investing your money in their enterprise? That is precisely what Hillary expects everyone to do. Somehow this meets the criteria for a “victory”?
We’ve arrived at a very strange place in our national story. A moment in which a deliberate lie is championed. A decade ago if Condoleeza Rice had been revealed as a liar during a Congressional hearing, progressives would be seething with outrage. Yet today, Hillary Clinton is all but sainted. The pass she’s been granted is so all encompassing that a great many media figures — right and left — won’t even use the word “lie” or “liar” to describe her actions.
Are Democrats so desperate to elect Obama’s third term they’ll go all in with someone who couldn’t shoot straight with them when it mattered most? Evidently so. Asking them to ponder questions like “what else did she lie about” are no doubt too deep for their hashtag constrained philosophies.
And what about Bernie Sanders? Yes, he’s a kook. He’s got ideas for this country that would take it the way of Detroit from sea to shining sea. He’s out there. But, he’s for the most part a pretty honest and upfront guy. You know what you’re getting when Sanders comes around. Democrats are throwing his campaign away like yesterday’s garbage in order to ensure Hillary’s coronation proceeds without further interruption.
Is that the price Democrats are willing to pay for 2016, throwing away Sanders in exchange for a Hillary victory?
