Believe the Immigration Reformers? Word of Advice: DON’T!

History should be a good educator. Should. Here’s the lesson: Trusting those who promise increased border security AFTER they get their amnesty is beyond stupid. It. Won’t. Happen. Ever. Hasn’t yet!

In 1986 President Reagan signed “comprehensive immigration reform” that included amnesty for the supposed 1.5 million illegal aliens in the US at the time. I say supposed because 3 million applied for the “path to citizenship” provided in that amnesty bill. The holes in our security have never been fixed. Just under 10 years ago in 2006 a law was passed to build a fence along our border. To date not even 20% has been built. Why? Those pushing for even more “comprehensive immigration reform” are blocking it at every turn.

Now it has reached a crisis state and those same reformists are screaming that NOW we have to pass even more amnesty bills, and they PROMISE there will be security measures taken LATER. Their plans look like this: provide amnesty (or a “path to citizenship”) now so people can “come out of the shadows” and plans for increasing border security soon. It certainly won’t lead to even more waves of illegals coming here. Nope, will never happen… yeah right!

Today there is supposedly 11,700,000 in the US (as of Department of Homeland Security 2013 numbers). Again I say supposedly because the real number in 1986 was double what the government was telling us. If providing amnesty almost 30 years ago was supposed to stem the tide, why are there 8+ million more here now?

What we know is that there is a hole in the border and a clear hole in their arguments. Here’s why. Obama met with activists who want them all to stay. He told them that those who don’t qualify for humanitarian relief will be deported. I don’t believe him for a minute, but apparently they did. One attendee, Angelica Salas, executive director of Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles, told him that no matter what, the tide of illegals won’t be stemmed: “Mr. President, when my family and I came to the country, I was five years old, and when we were caught crossing the border and were sent back, we didn’t give up. We kept trying until we made it.”

They are consummate liars. They don’t want any kind of border security, and in fact want the opposite. Other professional amnesty-pushers like Representative Luis Gutierrez constantly push for amnesty now and mmmaaaaayyyyyyyybbbbbbbbeeeeeeeeeeee a safer southern border later… maybe… or not.

Here’s what will really happen, in order to not look like “racists” before the election, all here will be given blanket amnesty. Then when they push later for the promised security measures like E-Verify (computerized checks of new hires), the passed-yet-still-not-even-close-to-being-done border fence, and exit-entry visa controls, they will be attacked and leveraged for even more amnesty since millions and millions more will still be pouring over the border. It will never happen.

By the way, Congress, we see through your transparent two-facedness. Securing our borders is a national security issue. More and more violent drug gangs are coming into our country. Terrorists certainly have taken advantage as well. This flood of illegals must be stopped. They only way to do so is to make it less attractive to come here illegally. Deporting those who do is the first right step. Finishing the fence is another. Giving any kind of amnesty is NOT.

Let’s learn from history this time instead of thinking “this time will be different.” Mostly because it won’t.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome. Time to stop the insanity!
