Media fact-checking organizations have cried foul over Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s claim that President Barack Obama went on an international “apology tour” during his first few months in office.
However, on his Tuesday radio show, conservative talker Rush Limbaugh argued that Obama had, in fact, “indicted” his own country during his trip abroad.
“[R]omney was exactly right,” Limbaugh said. “He didn’t hit him hard enough on this stuff. This was worse than an apology tour. This man went around the world and indicted this country, and he wasn’t through. See, Romney was dead on right last night. Here he is once again. Democracy is not what we’re about. Freedom is what we’re about, and you do not impose freedom. You liberate people and give them freedom. You don’t impose freedom on people. It’s not possible, because freedom is not an imposition. So our president says, ‘It’s not for anybody else to determine who has nuclear weapons.’”
Limbaugh, who has posted a compilation of what he said was Obama’s “apology tour” on his website, said the Obama administration’s policies have only confirmed his suspicions that the president wants to yield to foreign powers.
“Right there, I tend to believe the media reports over the weekend, that Obama has told the Iranians that he thinks they’re within their rights to have nuclear weapons,” Limbaugh said. “That was a leak over the weekend. I tend to believe it because of what he said in Cairo: ‘No single nation should pick and choose which nation holds nuclear weapons.’ That means us — it means we’re not a superpower. It means we don’t have the right.
“This was not an apology tour — it was a condemnation tour,” Limbaugh continued.
