Reformation of the Food Stamp Program

First_food_stampsSNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), more commonly known as the “Food Stamp Program” has grown 77 percent in the last five years, with almost 47 million using this assistance.  The average monthly benefit was $133 per person which equates to 75 billion dollars per year.

(Reuters) –

A report by a panel of experts released on Thursday questioned whether the federal government’s food stamp program adequately provides for healthy diets for the more than 47 million low-income people who rely on the benefit.

I am a  humane individual that does not want a needy family to starve to death.  What really pisses me off is when leeches thrive on our dollars to falsely feed themselves when they have more than enough to make purchases on their own income.

I have heard numerous stories about the Food Stamp Card holders buying more groceries than the average family needs. Commonly on the list is beer, alcohol, ice cream, cookies and chips along with some healthy frozen meals by the dozens.  These leeches really have it hard on our dime don’t they? — and then to see them put their groceries into a Cadillac Cascade even makes it worse.

Have you heard about the one grape raper.  In some states, all you have to do is purchase one item and the cashier will give you the difference in cash when making an EBT (Electronic Benefit Transaction).  I guess it only took a second to figure the weight of a grape is worth .02 cents and the holder of the card gets the remainder back in cash.

When I see abuse of the system that WE pay for, I Don’t like It!! When I see those that use their cards down in Florida purchasing booze and going to strip clubs on our dollar and then getting cash back, I am concerned!  I really think drug testing should also be implemented at some level to qualify for government assistance.

While searching to find how much our government spends on food stamps, I found this heading, “U.S. Government Spends Your Tax Dollars Advertising Food Stamps In Mexico”.  I am actually tired of researching amounts spent cause we are actually spent out …  I have heard estimates that the Mexican illegals are accountable for over 30 percent of our SNAP handouts.  Check out my last column: they have 180 days to get out of town unless they qualify to build a fence under the indentured servant program.

In order to end this massive dependency, something must be done.  I believe we have enough vacant government buildings to set up food supply houses.  For the rural areas, we have plenty of vacant buildings that are closed.  I am sure many Churches would welcome a community project in hopes of bringing those searching for an answer inside.  Those that are on the “State Food Program” must work a minimum of three days or more per month at the site in their community.

In the rural areas I would be game for giving those that need food a free state fishing license with a pole and line.  Giving them a free gun would cause an uproar but providing them with a hunting license could give them a means of putting meat on the table.

Many, if not all, of our government entitlement programs must be reformed.  We need to have an accounting of individuals claiming assistance with qualifications of presenting a driver’s license and birth certificate.  Those that qualify can pick up their food consisting of rice, beans, potatoes, canned meat, raw vegetables, milk and juices at their given locations providing they bring their own box. Community soup lines could also become a part of the program.  As stated previously, I do not want the needy to starve but, with respect, I don’t believe handing them a credit card at the taxpayer’s expense is the answer to our problem.
