CO Rep. Diana DeGette, longtime anti-Gun advocate, participated in a Denver Post forum on gun control. Now remember … DeGette has been introducing legislation in Congress to ban ammunition magazines that hold more than 10 rounds, since 1997. Her current bill is H.R. 138, the “Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device Act”, introduced on January 3, 2013.
About a half hour into the event she said concerning how efficacious banning magazines that hold more than 10 rounds would be: “What is the efficacy of banning these magazine clips? I will tell you. These are ammunition, they’re bullets, so the people who have those now, they’re going to shoot them, so if you ban them in the future, the number of these high-capacity magazines is going to decrease dramatically over time because the bullets will have been shot and there won’t be any more available.”
Only there’s an itsy bitsy problem: A firearm magazine is re-loadable … you don’t throw them away after they are emptied. She must have mixed that magazine up with the one she thumbs through in the Psychiatrist’s waiting room … that you throw out, when you’re done with it.
DeGette’s office made her look even more of an idiot by later saying, “The congresswoman . . . simply misspoke in referring to ‘magazines’ when she should have referred to ‘clips,’ which cannot be reused because they don’t have a feeding mechanism.”
Oopsie…another problem: Clips can be reused too.
Now, isn’t it reasonable to expect someone who has worked on an issue for YEARS … to actually KNOW what that issue entails? How frightening is it that someone, with her level of ignorance, would have the power to pass legislation CIRCUMSCRIBING one of our Constitutional Rights?
I believe this speaks volumes to the fact that the anti-Gun fanatics should rather seek some mental health assistance for their irrational (and unequivocally ignorant) fear of firearms, rather than continuing a campaign that further displays their ignorance, like Joe Biden on … well, any issue.
But no worries …I believe Obamacare covers that.
