The Legacy of Francis Schaeffer

schaefferFrancis Schaeffer has been called the last great Protestant theologian of the Twentieth Century.  He called upon Christians to live a life consistent with their faith:  to speak the truth, in love; to engage culture; and to take a stand on issues of importance.  He was also a very skilled apologist.

Leading by example, he challenged Christians to be a thinking people, able to engage issues with their God-given intellect, not merely playing defense, but taking the initiative to demonstrate deficiencies and inconsistencies in belief systems hostile to God.

He has said, “If Christianity is really true, then it involves the whole man, including his intellect and creativeness. Christianity is not just “dogmatically” true or “doctrinally” true. Rather, it is true to what is there, true in the whole area of the whole man in all of life.” – (Art and the Bible)

Check out the website which recently launched that uses short videos to summarize some of his very influential Christian works.  Judging by what I’ve seen so far, it looks pretty good!
