Well, Bob, if you need to steal from the taxpayer to fund your industry and keep it growing, maybe it doesn’t have a viable spot in the free-market.
Instead a federal law requires the EPA set standards each year to the amount of ethanol that must make up a certain percentage of US gasoline sales for the following year. Bio fuels currently account for 8 1/4% of gasoline sales in 2010 and the same year bio diesel accounted for 13,000,000,000 gallons of fuel. Federal law is requiring EPA meet these deadlines and set the standards, directly impacting bio fuel use that will increase annually to a target of 36,000,000,000 gallons, in the year 2022. Through force of regulation, the taxpayer is being cheated and strong armed into funding an industry that cannot stand on its own merits. Sound familiar?
Let’s recognize another fact that 1/3 of US corn is now used to make eco-friendly fuel. So, almost 73 million acres of corn and 1/3 of that is fueling cars and not bellies. Do these people think corn grows on trees?
There is one key principle of this current administration that never wavers or falters: never let a crisis go to waste. Conservatives need to adopt this and act amidst the current string of scandals and corruption and work towards putting an end to these out of control alphabet agencies that are taking our liberties and destroying our way of life.
