That’s Right, Boys: Guns Make Women Feel Safer

Training_in_marksmanship_helps_girls_at_Roosevelt_High_School_in_Los_Angeles,_Calif.,_develop_into_responsible_women...._-_NARA_-_196476.tifGuns aren’t just for boys! Yes, its true, boys and men generally are the ones who love to shoot weapons. Stereotypically, it’s men who enjoy the feeling of power that accompanies gripping a large caliber pistol in both hands. The steady squeeze of the trigger and, BAM, the hammer comes down. Shooting sports do tend to be a male dominated love, however, that is changing.

Most men who love guns have girlfriends or wives or at least a mother, whom they have invited to come along shooting. As a man who loves the feel of recoil, I know this from personal experience. The average woman enjoys the experience, but she may not acquire a real love for it. I believe there are several reasons for this, but that’s a different article.

Women are often-times more practical than men. They may not enjoy blasting away at targets or even wild animals, but I’ve noticed they like to feel safe. Women like to be protected from violent criminals who are almost always men. Say what you want, but if you’re a woman, you’re acutely aware that most men could overpower you with their strength. That realization can cause a level of fear and vulnerability that women either have to get used to or do something about. One of the easiest things for a girl to do is, keep a man around. Yes, it’s true, women are safer with a man around. Would-be attackers assume they’ll have to subdue said man, before raping or robbing the woman, who everyone knows is carrying all the money and wearing the nice jewelry.

There are many studies out there that back me up, but I’m not quoting anything but common sense today. My wife and daughter went to Africa on a Mission Trip a few years ago. They were instructed not to leave the safety of the base without a man in accompaniment. It didn’t have to be a big man or even a man with a gun, just any old man would do. Women alone were targets.

Many countries are very dangerous for unaccompanied women, and even America is no exception. The problem with America is that just the presence of a man may not be enough. Most American bad guys are armed, so for a man to thwart an attacker, he often times will need to return fire.

Weapons are such a great equalizer; you’d think the feminists would be all for arming women. I mean, an armed woman doesn’t really need a man, does she? Why aren’t women’s-libbers gun-nuts? I don’t know the answer to that, but safety is the great benefit of girls with guns. If a woman has the strength and wherewithal to pull a trigger, she has nothing to fear from a two-hundred-fifty pound drug-crazed-muscle-man. A couple taps to the torso and she’s calling the cops to come take a statement, no rape-kit necessary.
