America Saying: “Do Whatever the Hell You Want
If we take these above comments seriously, then the Bible becomes a thing of cultural whims and personal application only. Or worse – – a book full of inaccuracies that are so numerous it makes it no longer true and relevant to life. In other words you are, in essence, saying, “We can do whatever the hell we want!”
I would ask each of the above referenced people these questions: If we dismiss the Bible in light of friendships or our evolved sense of knowing better than the Scriptures what will we do when the culture moves again? What will you say when culture moves away from committed monogamous relationships or that sex is reserved for marriage, or our theology about Jesus Christ? What then will you fall back on since you have discredited the very Bible you would refer back to?
If we disregard the Bible’s position concerning morals, appropriate behavior, and healthy holy lives as nothing more than personal convictions that are no longer suitable for modern society, then we all might as well start shouting from the rooftops “DO WHATEVER THE HELL YOU WANT.”
