Bad Seed? Are Any Group of People Inherently Bad?

I won’t single out any group of individuals, let’s speak in broad terms here, ok? So I find it very difficult to believe that any one group of people simply hates another group of individuals. Let me clarify this though, what I mean is that I find it very hard to believe that EVERYONE in a specific group can possibly, just by default, hate another. I am certain that some groups do hate others. It happens, and we see it in crime; we see it in war, and we see it in the mass genocides happening today. There is no question that there is evil in this world. Perhaps I am naïve, but all that said; I simply cannot believe that everyone in a specific group is evil. That thought just doesn’t fit in my head.

There are many people out there that would perpetuate hate, they blindly believe propaganda and spread hate. Personally, I choose to think on my own. I am not blind; I can see things happening in this world. I see it just like you do. However, for every bad group of people, I see people of the same group who are good people. I have a very diverse group of friends, friends who come from every race, religion, neighborhood, and political affiliation. No person in one particular group is inherently evil. Even if I don’t agree with their views, even if I don’t like some of the things they may personally do, I cannot judge an entire group based on the actions they chose to take.

I will admit, though, that some groups out there make it very difficult to defend them. I always ask myself, “How do these people not condemn the actions of these evil people?” I wonder how they can sit around idle and watch as these sickos do their evil deeds? I’m not blaming them directly; but I’m just wondering how they can remain silent and simply be ok with it? I have always thought that if the majority of any one group is against the actions of a tiny percentage, they can suppress that minute percentage. Can’t they?

I know that in the beginning of this piece, I said I wouldn’t single anyone out, but I changed my mind, let’s take that ridiculous hate group, Westboro Church. I absolutely abhor Westboro church. Those people picket the funerals of dead soldiers if they were gay or somehow otherwise met their sin criteria. How disgusting is that? A group of people that protest the funeral of dead soldiers that fought for their right to be able to protest in the first place. The irony of this action is just sickening to me. I speak out against them often, I write against them often, but I live in a country that provides free speech. I have no choice but to tolerate these animals. However, many like me and you have created blockades to keep those animals out and to protect the funerals of our service members. Many Americans took action to prevent these animals from disturbing grieving family members.

I’ll restate then; some people make it hard to defend them. I have to believe that they are not all simply evil people. (Except Westboro, and pedophiles, they get no mercy here.) Yet I wonder, if these good people don’t support the behavior of the bad folks, and they claim to condemn it, why don’t they speak out and crush the perpetrators?
