Six Year-old Boy Suspended For Kissing Girl’s Cheek – Is it Sexual Harassment?

A kiss is just a kiss unless you are a six-year-old in first grade in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  If a six year old boy is caught kissing a six-year old girl then being suspended from school can be the least of the child and his parents’ worries.

This is exactly what happened to six year old Hunter Yelton, who according to Fox News was given a two-day suspension from his Lincoln School of Science and Technology for placing a kiss on a young girl’s hand and another on her cheek. One of the very real concerns that his parents have to be truly worried about is if this will be filed in his permanent school record as a sexual harassment punishment.

The political correctness police have to be frothing at the mouth on this one, because the innocence of childhood has somehow been buried and replaced with school officials who have to monitor every single little display of affection by a child despite the innocence of the act.  So just where is the line between childhood innocence and a negative, reactionary permanent record?

A child clinical psychologist at UCCS told KRDO-TV News channel 13 that the behavior of six year olds kissing a little girl on the cheek, “would be normal behavior.”  Sandy Wurtele who is an expert on childhood sexual development as well as the prevention of childhood sexual abuse was surprised that the school actually suspended Hunter.

What is happening to children in Hunter’s case and others across the nation is troubling because on one hand you have Hollywood movies and cartoon characters that display all sorts of mixed messages about what was once inappropriate behavior but not considered normal.  Movies and television shows which embrace gay parenting and gay relationships as acceptable are becoming the norm.  Even school curriculum subjects are adopting gay parenting in their curriculum not as an option but as a mandatory requirement.

In effect, the innocence of childhood that was once commonplace in American communities and in their schools is being marginalized and the conservative values are being mauled by secular gay rights agenda proponents. The youth of the 21st Century are becoming the generation of biblical and religious abandonment and being prepared for a socialist value system that is Godless and owes allegiance to the state.  Thanks, Obama!

So, where does that leave Hunter Yelton?  Is he to be the poster child for sexual harassment? Will the educational authorities anywhere in America slam the heavy fist of the state down upon the hand of a child who is merely showing curiosity and interest?  Maybe the boundaries of what is appropriate and what is not appropriate may be a discussion that his parents can continue to have with young Hunter, but certainly suspension from school does not fit the alleged crime.

His mom, Jennifer Sunders agrees that the punishment does not fit the act by her child. According to KRDO-TV News channel 13  she said that Hunter had an innocent crush on the six-year-old girl.  Yet because of the harassment charges, Hunter is “asking questions … what is sex mommy? That should not ever be said, sex. Not in a sentence with a six year old,” she told KRDO-TV News channel 13.

Hunter’s mom is not going to take this action by the school sitting down.  She is demanding that the record of sexual harassment be permanently removed from his school files.  She insisted that, “I’m going to stand up and fight for him because that’s not the case, that’s not what happened at all,” according to KRDO-TV News channel 13.

On Wednesday, December 11th, according to KRDO-TV News Channel 13, the sexual harassment wording  was removed from Hunter’s permanent record and was replaced by “misconduct” in the student’s record, said Robin Gooldy the Cañon City Schools Superintendent.

In a strange twist one can only imagine what alarm, hue and outcry would have been raised by the gay community if Hunter had kissed a boy on the cheek.  Every Gay Rights advocacy group in the nation would have risen up and demanded that Hunter’s rights be protected and even Obama would have sent a message from the White House and said, “If I had a son he would be like Hunter!”
