Yowza! Interpol Official Acknowledges Benefits of Armed Citizenry

As Americans we have the right to bear arms. Well mostly, we still do. Albeit, with a laundry list of infringements that are about enough to make the freedom and gun loving patriots sick to our collective stomachs. Most of us who carry a firearm on a daily basis do so for that one-in-a-million-bat-$h!+-crazy moment when some terrorist/psycho/thug has turned a perfectly lovely night at the movies into kill or killed. Many people don’t want the responsibility that comes with carrying a loaded firearm. Some are just afraid of guns entirely. Others prefer to think we are all crazy to think that moment will ever come. Police protect people and that’s that. Well, more power to these gentle souls. Statistically, they will likely be protected in that upside-down moment by one of us…the armed citizenry.

What will the armed citizen get in exchange for saving lives in the midst of a terrorizing event? Probably a lot of heartache, and possibly, arrested for their trouble. They might lose all their money to lawyers or penalties due to our nations and/or state laws being stacked against them. This heroic armed citizen may even pay the ultimate sacrifice and die or be seriously injured for their trouble. With all that said everyone I know who carries regularly holds it as a prized possession. We realize the great freedom and honor we have in the right to keep arms upon us. The ability to defend ourselves and others allows a man or woman to walk upright as a free citizen, not a subject.

This great freedom was bestowed upon us by our Founders and ultimately our Creator. Those sweet 27 words that make up the Second Amendment are so very special and unique to our country. So absolutely unique in fact, that many of us would rather die than allow this freedom to be taken from us. What if the answer to the proliferation of terroristic violence worldwide lies in this simple principle granted us in our Constitution? An armed citizenry.

In November, the Interpol Secretary General Ron Noble asked just that question. He stated,

There is also a practical problem in stopping these attacks. There are two ways to protect people: One is to say we want an armed citizenry; you can see the reason for that. Another is to say the enclaves are so secure that in order to get into the soft target you’re going to have to pass through extraordinary security.

Therefore the answer to terrorist attacks and mass shooters is found in armed individuals or serious lack of freedom and militarized security. You can’t have it both ways.

Secretary General Noble went on,

How do you protect soft (civilian) targets? That’s really the challenge. You can’t have armed police forces everywhere…it makes citizens question their views on gun control. You have to ask yourself, “Is an armed citizenry more necessary now than it was in the past with an evolving threat of terrorism?”

Can I get an Amen or at least a “hell, yeah”? This is not some redneck from Southern America. This is the head of Interpol, the Worlds International Police Organization asking if the answer to our violence problem might be more armed citizens of the world. He used the logic that terrorists aren’t stupid even if they are crazy.

From the Nairobi Mall to Adam Lanza and James Holmes, all these events were thoroughly planned out to be executed where guns were outlawed. Even suicidal crazies fear one thing, the armed citizen. Sounds like common sense, too bad that’s so uncommon. Maybe the world will eventually come around to the notion that even in the face of terror…it’s better to go out returning fire than closing your eyes. There is no greater threat to the homicidal maniac than an average Joe with the means to put up a fight and a strong desire to live.

It’s kind of amazing to hear the head of Interpol admit that an armed citizenry is the answer. We’ve known that for a few hundred years. Let us never forget it. Encourage more people to get their permits and actually carry a firearm. You never know whose life you might be saving.

Sherman does a great job of forecasting in this timely tome of how things could possibly go down. My advice is to a.)Read this book and b.) Buy a stack of guns and ammo, pretty damn quick.
