OK, I’ve been avoiding this particular meme (that “liberals” are insane) for as long as I’ve been politically awake and aware. However, I can’t resist it any longer. “Liberals” really ARE insane, or at least their leadership is. And Obamacare proves it beyond any shadow of a doubt.
Do you doubt me? Read on.
First, nothing that the current “liberal” leadership tells us about Obamacare can be believed. Not a single thing. Starting with Obama’s infamous “If you like your doctor” lie, to the most recent “American’s work too hard anyway” meme they’re now using to address the disastrous job losses that Obamacare will produce, “liberals” have lost any and all credibility when it comes to the truth about Obamacare.
Why do I say this? I say it because so MUCH of it is built upon a lie.
We all now know, painfully, the biggest lie of them all: “If you like your healthcare plan, you can keep your healthcare plan. If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor. Period!” This outright lie was repeated over 25 times by Obama in major addresses to the American people prior to and during the last election cycle – there’s even video, I’m told. Of course, the Democrats who wrote Obamacare (no Republicans had any hand in drafting OR in voting for the law) KNEW full well that many, many Americans would both lose their plans, as well as access to the doctors that they had come to trust and to rely upon.
No matter. To date, approximately 5 million Americans have gone through the absolutely wrenching ordeal of losing their health coverage AND of losing their doctors. And only 3.3 million Americans have “selected” health plans through the various Obamacare exchanges. I say selected, because we don’t even have any real number of those who have “paid” for new plans, as that part of the website is, unbelievably, “still under construction.”
Of the one’s who have managed to find new plans through the exchanges, the vast majority have seen their premiums and deductibles go through the roof! People are reporting increases of 50% to 200% in their fees. Not only that, only about 11% of enrollees are “NEW” to health insurance. So, the other 89% of people who were just thrown off of their plans, and NOW have to pay double for less than what they had before, and/or rely on government subsidies to get by.
But don’t worry. Young people will sign up droves and make it all work, unless of course they remain on mom and dad’s plan until age 26. I guess maybe this whole thing wasn’t quite thought through all that well.
And THAT brings me to the “insane” part.
The fact that Democrats think that they can go out in public and tell people that Obamacare is working, or that it is improving, is just not borne out by the evidence. In fact, the evidence PROVES that these people MUST be insane to be arguing anything other than that Obamacare is a disaster!
And that’s because of one thing: Jobs.
The issue of jobs is THE most important issue in America today, and has been for the last many thousands of days. And Obamacare was sold to us as a great boon to the economy. They said that if more people were covered, healthcare costs would go down – they haven’t – and that the resulting pressure on the economy would be eased – it hasn’t been. And now, the CBO’s latest report is just more bad news for America, as they project that 2.5 million jobs will be lost in the next decade as a direct result of Obamacare.
But I mentioned insanity before. Here’s the really insane part. AMERICANS WORK TOO HARD, ANYWAY, according to the new insane Democrat meme. Democrats went out on the Sunday talk shows last week, en masse, and all said the same things: “We work too hard.” “Moms will now be able to come home and make dinner for their kids.” “ People will be able to retire earlier,” etc, etc. Ask yourself the question. If the Democrats had come out and made these insane statements WHILE they were selling Obamacare, would we have voted for them? Would we have supported their insane plans?
Now the new term on the block is “Job-Lock.” It’s BAD! You don’t want to have it. No one should ever have it.
Democrats are now saying that since SO many people will not have to keep a job in order to get healthcare, they will now be “free” to find their inner-selves, or some such thing. Harry Reid recently dubbed these people “free agents” and said, “We have the CBO report, which rightfully says that people shouldn’t have job lock.” Brilliant. However, Harry forgets that being free and BROKE, just means that you’re still broke.
No, insanity has taken over the Democrats, lock, stock and barrel. And the wild scrambling around through all of the horrible, painful and disastrous news coming out of the Obamacare corner is just the latest proof. I guess I’ve known for some time now that these Democrat “Leaders” were quite literally insane. But, it took a national disaster for me to finally come to the realization: They are.
