Boko Haram Is Not Muslim? Only If You’re Stupid

Albert Einstein was spot on when he said: “Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I’m not sure about the universe.” Our culture is replete with them…many are deceived because their leaders are either intellectually lazy, disinformed by poor advisers OR are following a perverse agenda.

Any way you slice it, the culture loses…

But does that dissuade the truth-loathers? Not one iota.

This past week, State Dept. spokesman Robert Jackson told a Senate Hearing on Terrorism in Nigeria: “Boko Haram is trying to portray its philosophy as being a Muslim philosophy, and that’s just not accurate.”

I’m sorry, I was unaware that the State Dept. was awash with Islamic scholars and theologians. To make such a statement, sounds quite authoritative. It’s odd that he failed to offer any proof of his absolute claim. Not a scintilla of evidence proffered up by Jackson. Nada. Zilch. Bupkis.

Yet, Boko Haram seems to believe they’re Muslim…as a matter of fact, they KNOW they are. And here’s evidence to prove it:
— Boko Haram (the Congregation of the People of the Sunnah for Dawah and Jihad) follows the ideology of Salafist Jihadism, Islamic Fundamentalism.
— Founded in 2002 by Muhammed Yusuf.
— Their goal is to establish a “pure” Islamic state ruled by Sharia (Islamic Law).
— Boko Haram is linked to al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb.

They also use Quranic verses (and there’s no misinterpretation, it is what it is. Robert Spencer notes: “If you fear that you will not act justly towards the orphans, marry such women as seem good to you, two, three, four; but if you fear you will not be equitable, then only one, or what your right hands own; so it is likelier you will not be partial.” (Qur’an 4:3) (The mainstream Muslim commentary Tafsir al-Jalalayn explains that 4:3 tells Muslims to “marry only one, or, restrict yourself to what your right hands own, of slavegirls, since these do not have the same rights as wives.” )

“And also prohibited to you are all married women except those your right hands possess.” (Qur’an 4:24)

The twentieth-century Qur’an commentator Maulana Bulandshahri explains the wisdom of this practice, and longs for the good old days:

During Jihad (religion war), many men and women become war captives. The Amirul Mu’minin [leader of the believers, or caliph — an office now vacant] has the choice of distributing them amongst the Mujahidin [warriors of jihad], in which event they will become the property of these Mujahidin. This enslavement is the penalty for disbelief (kufr).

And, according to the Clarion Project:

The reason that Boko Haram believes its kidnapping of over 200 Nigerian girls is justified is because of Islamist teachings that the taking of female slaves is justified during jihad. And this jihad is not limited to Nigeria. In a recent video, its leader said it is at war with Christianity and democracy.

Boko Haram knows they’re Muslim. According to their behavior (based upon their prophet), we believe them. So, what the freak is wrong with our government? There are only a few choices here: They are either 1) in serious denial of reality; 2) have been given a death threat by Boko Haram; 3) or they’re stuck on stupid. Whatever you choose, we lose.

The government’s unwillingness to identify an enemy by their most notable characteristic (Islam), is pernicious to our national security, and to the security of the West. And for the fact that leaders and celebs are all jumping on the bandwagon, with futile gestures, in the case of these kidnapped children…has just empowered Boko Haram and their ilk for future jihad.

In our current milieu…we have leaders who neither seek nor value truth. Sadly, they thrive on lies. It appears that George Orwell was correct: “In a time of universal deceit – telling the truth is a revolutionary act.”

And telling the truth may be the SOLITARY thing that saves us.
