By now, you’re aware of the release of a soldier who was held by the Taliban since June 30, 2009, Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. But what you WON’T hear in the sycophantic media are the facts that are now being revealed about this situation…
Former Sgt. Matt Vierkant, a member of Bergdahl’s platoon when he went missing on June 30, 2009: “I was pissed off then, and I am even more so now with everything going on…Bowe Bergdahl deserted during a time of war, and his fellow Americans lost their lives searching for him.” Vierkant further stated that Bergdahl needs to not only acknowledge his actions publicly but face a military trial for desertion under the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
When Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel was asked whether Bergdahl had left his post without permission or deserted, he said: “Our first priority is assuring his well-being and his health and getting him reunited with his family,” he said. “Other circumstances that may develop and questions, those will be dealt with later.” Translation: WHAT DIFFERENCE, AT THIS POINT, DOES IT MAKE!
Soldiers that served with Bergdahl, were FORCED (under duress) to sign a non-disclosure agreement consenting to never share any information about Bergdahl’s disappearance or the efforts to recapture him.
Shortly after his capture, according to a 2012 Rolling Stone Magazine article, Bergdahl sent an email to his parents shortly before his capture saying: “I am ashamed to be an American. And the title of US soldier is just the lie of fools.”
According to the NY Times, “Sometime after midnight on June 30, 2009, Pfc. Bowe Bergdahl left behind a note in his tent saying he had become disillusioned with the Army, did not support the American mission in Afghanistan and was leaving to start a new life. He slipped off the remote military outpost in Paktika Province on the border with Pakistan and took with him a soft backpack, water, knives, a notebook and writing materials…” (This showed preparation and intent to go AWOL.)
My uber disgust for cowards and traitors aside, here’s the most unconscionable result of Bergdahl’s actions: Six good soldiers died in the search for Bergdahl:
— PFC Morris Walker was killed Aug. 18 by a homemade bomb while on a reconnaissance mission
— SSG Clayton Bowen was killed Aug. 18 by a homemade bomb while on a reconnaissance mission
— SSG Kurt Curtiss was fatally shot in the face Aug. 26 while searching for Taliban members supposedly connected to Bergdahl’s captors
— 2LT Darryn Andrews was fatally ambushed Sept. 4 while heading to a village close to where Bergdahl was last seen
— PFC Matthew Martinek was fatally ambushed Sept. 4 while heading to a village close to where Bergdahl was last seen
— SSG Michael Murphrey died after stepping on a land mine Sept. 5 near a village also associated with the captors
At least six men, heroes of honor and duty, laid down their lives to search for one they assumed was their “brother”. MEN…as opposed to this male coward…who stopped at nothing but death to save their own.
If the truth is ever finally acknowledged by the major media (and this is dubious), Bowe Bergdahl should not draw another breath from the air of this free nation.
William Shakespeare said in Julius Caesar, “Cowards die many times before their deaths; The valiant never taste of death but once.”
Let’s do Bergdahl a favor…and make him “valiant” for once in his life.
