HE’S BACK! Phil Robertson Calls Out the Legislation of Perversion
In America of late, legislating morality is a big no-no. How dare the law impose antiquated religious standards of morality on a society where individuals get to decide what’s acceptable for them based on personal perceptions of right and wrong?
Well, once again provocative Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson has blown a politically incorrect hole right through “legislating morality” hypocrisy by pointing out that immorality is authorized because abortion is legal.
Unabashed when expressing his Biblical beliefs, church elder Robertson again took to the pulpit at the White’s Ferry Road Church in West Monroe, Louisiana. It was there that Robertson accused America of being a nation that refuses to acknowledge what God defines as sin. Preacher Phil expressed the opinion that, contrary to what they say, aborting 55 million human beings indicates that the politically correct crowd’s support for legalized abortion is indeed legislating a perverse form of morality.
Refusing to shrink away from controversy, Phil has already suffered public criticism after A&E suspended the reality TV star indefinitely after he expressed an unpopular view on homosexuality in a December 2013 GQ article where he quoted from 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, which says:
“Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers—they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.”
Lest we forget, this is America, and in America no one gets to dictate right or wrong to anyone anymore, especially some backwoods duck whistle maker dressed in green camouflage who purports to speak for a God many believe doesn’t exist.
Nonetheless, in response to a public outcry that accused A&E, the liberal media, and the LGBT community of quashing free speech, Phil was reinstated after 10 days.
The A&E suspension has not deterred the Duck Dynasty star from continuing to address the Godless world we live in – a world steeped in the idolatry, adultery, sexual immorality, thievery, greed and every other corrupt thing 1st Corinthians clearly warns about.
Now, despite the threat of being viewed as a religious fanatic again, Robertson has chosen to tie the cultural bane of political correctness to secular society’s unwillingness to address evil. In a recent sermon, the White’s Ferry Road Church elder explained how Webster’s dictionary depicts PC thinking and the effect that sort of thinking has had on societal dissolution.
Phil explains:
Noah Webster’s heirs at least were not kind to political correctness. Political correctness is usually used disparagingly to connote dogmatism – this way or the highway, you either gonna agree with us, yeah, we’re hollering tolerance but we’re only tolerant of anyone who agrees with us. They connote dogmatism, the excessive sensitivity to minority causes. It just goes on and on.
Submitting to the calling of being a modern day voice crying out in the wilderness, Robertson then tied dogmatic, intolerant political correctness to those who reject legislating morality by aptly pointing out that the legal slaughter of 55 million fetuses in their mothers’ wombs is, in actuality, the legislating of morality.
Phil Robertson censured our government, saying, “We legislate murder. That’s what abortion is…we’re legislating perversion.”
As unpopular an opinion as that might be, Phil reminded the congregation: “You have God’s law that says, ‘don’t shed innocent blood, don’t murder.’ So our government says no, we’re gonna’ trump that: you can kill them. And half of our country said we’re going with the government instead of God.”
“What do you call that, aborting human beings in their mother’s womb?” Phil asked.
He then answered his own question, saying, “It’s sin.” Then Robertson queried and answered himself a second time by saying “What do you call perversion, Phil? And we’re legislating it? The politically correct crowd, we just took their opinion. We call it sin. God says it is sin. All scripture is God’s.”
Acknowledging that the crowd he’s referring to bristles when he speaks his mind, Phil said “I give [politically correct people] a Bible verse and they scream and holler.”
Standing with those who, down through the ages, have boldly spoken God’s truth, in defense of his decision to do so Phil pointed out that although the politically correct people are “mad” at him, he’s just “quoting what the apostle Paul said.”
So, according to Phil, and rightly so, those who criticize him for repeating what the Apostle Paul said should be mad at Paul and ultimately God, from whom came the words spoken by both Paul and Phil.
Like it or not, just as it says in Hebrews 4:12, Phil Robertson fearlessly wields the Word of God like a sword, “For the Word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
By brandishing that weapon so adeptly, Phil Robertson has exposed the hypocrisy of a politically correct mentality that says legislating morality is anathema, but then supports legislating morality by placing their corporate approbation on the perverse but legal slaughter of 55 million unborn babies.
