BECAUSE THEY SAY SO? Obama Administration the Most Transparent Ever? (!)
Do we need to review the litany of scandals attributed to this administration? The list keeps growing and growing. Through it all the White House keeps insisting they have the most “transparent” administration ever. Now with Hillary Clinton imploding under yet another email scandal, Josh Ernest, with a straight face, claimed it again. To quote Inigo Montoya from the Princess Bride “You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.”
So, to review for the White House, transparent is defined (per Merriam Webster online) as: “easy to notice or understand; : honest and open; not secretive, free from pretense or deceit; frank; easily detected or seen through; obvious; readily understood; characterized by visibility or accessibility of information especially concerning business practices”
Let’s review: honest and open… IRS scandal and missing emails… really??? Free from pretense and deceit… “If you like your policy/doctor, you can keep your policy/doctor”… Now that’s a knee slapper! Characterized by visibility or accessibility of information… Eric Holder refusing to provide subpoenaed information to Congress on Fast and Furious… How’s that contempt of Congress thing working for you? And that’s just 3!
Now we find out that Hillary Clinton purposefully purchased and used, in violation of federal law, a personal email server to take care of State Department email business AND personal email. Why? She says for convenience. She didn’t want to have two smart phones. That’s funny, seems every other State Department employee had no problem with it. And Clinton had no problem bitchin’ about former President Bush even thinking about using a personal email for anything, let alone official business. But no worries, everyone, Hillary promises that no classified information was handled through her server! How do we know? Well, we have to take her word for it, and she’d never LIE or delete email… oh, wait… she already is.
So the White House had a press briefing today, and Press Secretary Josh Earnest was quick to reaffirm that YES this administration should still be considered the most transparent administration in history. You have to remember that Obama said he never knew Hillary got the email server. I mean, how could he? It’s not like her email should end with .gov or anything… and of course he never emailed her over a period of four years. Believe that, right? Great, I have some great bridges to sell you…
“Yes,” Earnest responded, “And the reason for that is that there are large numbers of ways that reporters and the public have access to the administration and to decisions made at the administration.” You know, because it’s not like the administration bugged and hacked into AP phones and email to keep them in line or anything. Then there’s the whole “FOIA requests are easier to get” line of bunk. Tell that to Judicial Watch. They have had to sue the Administration several times to force them to fulfill FOIA requests they made to get records about things like what the excessive amounts of Presidential vacations cost the taxpayers.
So, Obama Administration, before you make that ludicrous claim of “transparency” again, please send all records about Fast and Furious, all emails in the IRS scandal (ALL as in President on down the line), all vacation cost records, and the actual server from the Clintons over to Congress. Then ‘fess up to all the Obamacare lies and cover-ups from Benghazi, along with every single other piece of information about every other scandal. Then and only then can anyone begin to take you even the slightest bit seriously when you make idiotic statements like “the most transparent administration ever.”
