FAMILY FRIENDLY?! Disney’s ABC Family Channel ‘The Fosters’ Airs Youngest Gay Kiss

Remember the days when kids were allowed to be just that? Kids! The days when they played outside from dawn til’ dusk and only came home when mom yelled up the street to come home? The days when adults had the responsibility to protect a child from content that wasn’t meant for young eyes and ears? The age of innocence for children is long over. Sexual innuendo and perversion is all over television, the internet, and even in some of the schools that teach our youth.

You can’t even watch a television commercial without seeing an inappropriate image. Who knew a big sloppy hamburger could get you into the mile high club, or the Angels from Victoria’s Secret half naked in their underwear, or during a Super bowl halftime show thousands of children would be exposed to Janet Jackson’s breast as they rooted for their favorite team.
The days of wholesome family entertainment are gone. Noted as being prudish or boring, sex sells, and companies and Hollywood don’t care who sees it, as long as it is making them money.

The diverse television show, The Fosters, considers themselves an amazing achievement. They aired an episode that featured the youngest gay kiss in the history of television. Two thirteen year old boys swapped spit to what was for obvious “shock and awe” factor because it offered zero benefit.

The show’s family is comprised of a lesbian couple that is bi-racial that both help to raise biological children as well as adopted. Whole storylines based solely on sexuality with an obvious agenda. The creator of the show, Peter Paige, who was best known for his role on Showtime’s Queer as Folk seemed just overjoyed about the kiss. Paige tried to sympathize with young people and the agonizing first kiss by Tweeting, “Anyone else remember the exquisite torture of falling for someone and not knowing how they felt? My life in jr. high”.

Jennifer Lopez is Co-Executive producer has defended the show saying it reflects “a new kind of family” and suggests that it’s based off of the world we live in today. She also stated that “Family has turned into something else. Family equals love.”

The controversial show has been boycotted since it began airing in 2013 by the group One Million Moms when they made a statement saying, “Obviously, ABC has lost their minds… One Million Moms is not sure how the explanation will be given on how the biological children were conceived. None of this material is acceptable content for a family show … Let’s stop this dead in it its tracks”.

The show airs on the station “ABC Family” that was founded by Pat Robertson, the host of the 700 Club and Christian pastor. The station was originally the Christian Broadcasting Network airing family-friendly content. It was bought by the supposedly “family friendly” Disney in 2001 and has since come under fire for it’s less-than-PG story lines. The series has won praise by GLADD (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) activist group winning the award for Outstanding drama series in 2014.

Hollywood is filled to brim with pedophiles and people willing to exploit young children in the name of “art”. There is no reason what so ever to air two young children kissing on film whether it be straight or gay in nature. Children are exposed to far too much sexuality too early–taking away their innocence (which is something that can’t be given back). Parent’s need to monitor what their children have access to and that includes: television, internet, and even their i-pads and i-phones.

Talk to your children about tough topics such as sex and drugs, otherwise you leave it for them to discover on their own from an obscure B rated television show. Keep our youth innocent for as long as possible for they have their whole lives ahead of them to worry about such issues.
