Christian leadership is soft. They think that talking and praying constitutes “fighting”. War, to them, is arguing with Juan Williams on Fox News, when in fact, words mean nothing. Words are the weapons of girlie fighters.
The “pro-family” groups over the last four decades have only fought with words; words without action are dead. Hiring Republican politicians for mercenary work has not gone so well either. I guess fighting isn’t very “Christian”. Remember: love your enemies—especially as they’re destroying your nation.
The degradation and collapse of the morality of this nation has occurred under the “watchful eye” of this conglomerate of “family values” organizations.
One of the founders of the “moral majority”, James Dobson, cried “uncle” in 2009 when he stated,
We tried to defend the unborn child, the dignity of the family, but it was a holding action. We are awash in evil and the battle is still to be waged. We are right now in the most discouraging period of that long conflict. Humanly speaking, we can say we have lost all those battles.
That statement was made nearly 6 years ago, yet the same groups are still appealing for money today using the same worn-out arguments and techniques, funneling millions of dollars to the GOP and trusting politicians to fight the moral battles on their behalf.
In 2011, Focus on the Family (FOTF) took in nearly $95 million. They have assets of over $54 million. The American Family Association took in another $20 million, while having property valued at $27 million. Family Research Council (FRC) swallowed up nearly $14 million, and has holdings worth another $4.2 million. There are literally dozens of organizations that are raking in donations “fighting” evil. To put it succinctly, the “pro-family” movement is rolling in dough. Fighting on their “team” can be very lucrative.
Look, I love James Dobson. His principled stand resulted in his being fired in 2003 from FOTF (an organization he started) when FOTF decided to take a “softer” approach to sin. Dobson was a “white collared warrior”— one who trusted in the political process to bring change. “White collared warriors” are described by Jesus in Matthew 11:
And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind? But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings’ houses.
Those wearing “soft raiment” do not, for the most part, like to get their knees scraped. Their political approach to moral problems has, in Dobson’s own words, left us “awash in evil”. Hiring “mercenaries” (Republicans), simply has not worked.
Millions of dollars went down the tubes, much of it contributed to political benefactors: John Boehner, John McCain, Mitt Romney, Mitch McConnell, Republican political PACs, elegant office buildings, lobbyists, employees, fund raisers, etc.
So now, they say it is time to disobey. WE WILL NOT OBEY! I hear them bombasting in regard to their anticipated defeat in the Supreme Court’s homo-marriage decision. Really? They are going to go to jail? James Dobson, Tony Perkins, Matt Staver, Franklin Graham, Jerry Johnson, Rick Santorum, Keith Fornier, Rick Scarborough—they’re willing to go to jail? REALLY?
So, if I understand these Christian leaders correctly, there IS a time to disobey government. The question then becomes not IF, but WHEN.
Jesus went to jail. Paul practically lived in jail. Dr. King went to jail. Today’s Christian leaders go to fundraisers.
Why aren’t these Christian “leaders” ALREADY in jail? Isn’t the slaughter of 60 million babies worthy of a month or two in the slammer? Shouldn’t the indoctrination of God’s children in the sin of sodomy in America’s “public” schools be enough to warrant a trip in the paddy wagon? You would think that opposition to an out of control, tyrannical government would be enough to have them already wearing orange jump suits. WE WILL NOT OBEY! Yeah, right.
There is a reason why fighters bleed, and pastors and politicians don’t. I think it has something to do with soft raiment and sitting in king’s palaces.
While these “pro-family” leaders have been living in luxury and attending meetings with the “kings” in Washington, many of my friends are miles ahead of these fellows. I have friends who have been arrested hundreds of times and have spent months in jail in defense of their unborn brothers and sisters. Jail is nothing new to those who truly defy anti-god edicts.
Funny, it was some of the same folks who now claim that they “WILL NOT OBEY” who actually criticized my friends for defying a government that says that pre-born baby-murder is legal. After all, God ordained the government. Government is good. Read Romans 13. Remember?
During the rise of Hitler in Germany, Pastor Martin Niemöller found himself locked in jail for his vocal opposition of der Führer. One of his fellow pastors, dressed in soft raiment, visited Niemöller in jail and asked him a simple question.
“My brother! What did you do? Why are you here?” asked the nicer-than-Jesus pastor.
Niemöller’s response, “My brother, given what’s happened in our country, why aren’t YOU here?”
The time to stand up is NOW!! The time to go to jail is NOW!! The time for godly obedience is NOW!!
How about using the millions of dollars that they’ve collected to call for a mass arrest in Washington DC? How about surrounding the U.S. Supreme Court and demand their removal? How about flooding the halls of Congress and demanding that our representatives obey their oath? What if 100,000 of us were to show up and refuse to move even when threatened with death? I honestly believe that millions are ready to go, but our “leaders” are soft. They love comfort. What exactly are they waiting for?
This week, I was struck by something that the Prosecutor in Baltimore said as she brought charges against the cops. Speaking to the thugs who took their grievances to the streets, she stated,
“We have heard you.”
My question is, why do they hear the thugs, but they don’t hear us?
White collared warriors being arrested? Talk is cheap. War is bloody.
I’ll believe it when I see it.
