DEATH OF THE FIRST AMENDMENT — One Comment at a Time

Freedom of speech is under assault here in America. If a particular group or individual doesn’t like a comment you’ve said, they will do everything in their power to shut you down. I was recently at a college orientation for my daughter, when the counselor leading the night began talking about something that set off alarms and red flags.

She began talking about the “code of conduct” for students and how serious it is to follow it. She proceeded to tell the parents and the wide-eyed students that if they are having a private conversation with a friend on campus grounds and someone overhears it and gets offended, they could get expelled.

The person in question would be required to appear in front of a deciding board to determine if they could stay in school. I’m not sure what I expected from a college, considering a lot of them are very liberal, but I was appalled to say the least. After all, indoctrination begins in our schools.

Recently, a city official in California, Art Barrios, came under fire from the Muslim Brotherhood front group CAIR for a Facebook post he made on his private Facebook page. The official made a comment on an article he posted entitled, “China makes major move to ban Islam”, to which the official responded, “Sounds good, maybe the rest of the world should respond”. The radical group is calling for the officials’ resignation and an apology for the comment that they view as offensive.

CAIR Las Angeles released this statement saying, “Neither the article nor Mr. Barrios’ comment on the article give any indication that he was talking about Muslim extremists. It is extremely alarming when somebody in such a position expresses their bigoted views against any minority.” She ranted on about how his comment was “biased” and “bigoted”.

Barrios has no plans of resigning but caved and issued this apology statement saying,

I thought it was about time that we stop kowtowing to the Islam that’s doing the racist things and doing the things that are bad for any religion. I’m an American citizen. I have the right to think anything I want to think … I have the right to do what I want to do. CAIR have the right to do what they want to do.

Pamela Geller organized a Muslim cartoon drawing contest of the prophet Muhammad as an expression of free speech, when two gunman opened fire and tried to enter the venue. Both gunman were shot and killed. Geller has come under scrutiny from several outlets saying she asked for it to happen. Arab American News publisher, Osama Siblani, said Geller was “worse than ISIS” in an interview.

ISIS beheads Christians and all infidels, they kidnap and rape women, they destroy whole cities, they torture, and they steal — they are barbaric animals. Comparing Geller to ISIS is just sick. What Pam Geller did was extremely important for the preservation of free speech. She took a stand and put her life in danger for freedom. We must always protect freedom of speech along with all of our rights because if we lost them here, where will we go?

What will it take for Americans to wake up and get angry? Muslims are trying to plant the tentacles of Islam in the United States as they are doing in Europe. When will you take a stand for your country before it’s too late? Time is crucial and the time is now. If you don’t like our ways here in America, get out. We’ll help you pack your bags and that includes you CAIR.
