Liberal Teachers and the Curse of Being Born in America

Last year when the Obama administration threatened to file federal lawsuits against public schools for racial discrimination, the Department of Justice virtually accused liberal teachers of violating the civil rights of black kids. To conclude otherwise, you would have to strain uncomfortably hard not to notice that public school teachers are predominantly liberals. In fact, most teachers are so liberal that 72 percent of the National Education Association’s delegates voted to endorse President Obama for re-election during the 2011 NEA convention.

Nevertheless, the DOJ presented government data in 2014 that showed liberal teachers suspend black kids more regularly than all other racial groups — and more than three times as often as white kids. To the Obama administration, the fact liberals discipline black students more than other kids at school proves school discipline policies designed by liberal educators are inherently biased against black students.

The same government data highlights that Asian kids are suspended three times less often as white kids and 10 times less often than black kids. Normal people simply realize that the data reinforces what political correctness is conditioning them to ignore — Asian kids tend to be better behaved, more self-disciplined, and more respectful of their teachers than are white kids and black kids.

But to the Obama administration, race hustlers, and the Democrat Party, the government evidence is supposed to prove black kids have been cursed by being born in America.

According to Al Sharpton, black kids “disproportionately attend schools with inadequate teachers.” But who are these inadequate teachers? Predominantly black schools usually have black principals and more black teachers than suburban schools. Are liberal black teachers responsible for violating the rights of black students?

A plethora of video evidence continues to be downloaded to the internet — often by black kids themselves — that documents liberal teachers using extreme force disproportionately against black students.

One video that has not gone viral — but will probably be removed from the internet once this article is published — documents an elderly black female who appears to be a school principal accusing a black seventh grader of assaulting her. The video is far more shocking than the most recent video to capture national attention.

On May 15, the latest video documents a substitute teacher in Maryland breaking up a classroom brawl involving four black sixth graders. The media and the public have shown little concern for the dysfunctional and violent behavior taking place in a classroom of predominantly black children. Instead, half of America is outraged over the teacher’s brief use of a belt to instantly regain control of his classroom and to restore order amidst sheer chaos.

It has not been widely reported that the teacher, Albert W. Cooks, is not the average substitute. He is a former vice principal and has 20 years of school administration experience. He also happens to be black while substituting at a predominately black school.

Mr. Cooks released a statement concerning his actions through his daughter last week:

We have a major problem in our society with kids coming to school for anything but to get an education…Talk is cheap, and the parents of today need to instill some old fashion values that our kids can take with them into their future and become contributing citizens…I just want to make sure all kids, especially black kids, go as far as they can in school…

To most liberals, Mr. Cooks was violating the civil rights of four black students. To normal people the four black trouble makers were violating the civil rights of their black classmates by making teaching and learning impossible. Such behavior is rampant in urban schools, and video evidence proves it.

When will the Obama administration and civil rights hustlers show concern for responsible black students? Are liberals showing compassion for normal kids by confining them to classrooms with bonafide juvenile delinquents — who are forced to come to school only so the community has them off the streets for seven to eight hours out of the day? Why do race hustlers expect responsible black kids to sacrifice their educations so the government can legally detain hoodlums without charging them with crimes?

The consequences of the meaningless discipline policies liberals are now implementing are resulting in some liberal teachers being diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).  Danita Martin, a black female math teacher in Memphis, told members of her school board and parents what an average day at work was like for her at the urban middle school where she worked last year:

I’m called by my students, “Gay, lesbian, dyke, sir,” and my favorite, “White girl.” Students tell me, “Who the F-bomb do you think you’re speaking to?” and “Shut the F up,” when talking to me. But [the derelict students] go unpunished.

When liberal teachers are not captured using physical force against black students, the teachers are often enduring verbal abuse like Ms. Martin describes. Meanwhile, the responsible black students remain stuck in these insane asylums and robbed of an education. Liberal do-gooders, however, go on television to congratulate themselves for helping black kids. Their honest conversations about race make normal people sick and leave black kids mangled.

On May 5 at Northwest High School in Indianapolis, a white teacher took no physical action to stop a black male student from brutally beating a black female student. The district has since defended the teacher’s inaction as an appropriate response and in compliance with the district’s policy. Perhaps emasculated-liberal-white teachers are the “inadequate teachers” to whom Al Sharpton ambiguously refers.

Northwest High School had two additional fights the same day, and a black female student’s leg was broken during one of the separate fights.

However, when teachers do intervene, they can become the targets of the violence as my former black vice principal experienced. While trying to break up a melee involving nearly a dozen black students, the giant man was attacked by multiple black students who joined the fight. The video evidence of this fight was removed from the internet before the story made the local news. Black kids are often suspended for posting videos of these civil rights violations.

However, a video from a high school in Toledo, Ohio, shows a teacher being forced to headlock and flip a freshman black girl to her back after she attacked him.

On April 26, video evidence documents a vicious fight at a Memphis high school cafeteria involving a large group of black girls. Eight girls were suspended.

In Detroit, video documents a black female teacher striking two black students with a broom stick as the boys fight in the middle of class went viral last year. The teacher was initially fired, but later reinstated.

In Paterson, New Jersey, video documented a 16-year-old black freshman slamming and punching a 62-year-old teacher at John F. Kennedy High School this year. The teacher never attempted to defend himself. If he had, the teacher’s self-defense might have violated the student’s civil rights.

Last year in Baltimore, video captured a black female teacher violently fighting with a black female student and threatening to kill her. In 2013, Marietta English, the president of the Baltimore Teachers Union, was surprised to learn that only four assaults occurred every day on Baltimore school employees. She thought the number was higher.

Based on the disproportionate amount of evidence showing black kids experiencing school discipline at the hands of liberal teachers, what normal person would think the curse of being born in America is really the problem? Any mentally stable person can see that the Obama administration, race hustlers, and the black juvenile delinquents are violating the civil rights of liberal teachers and responsible black students. Will they ever be held responsible?
