WHAT IF WE COULD MAKE A DIFFERENCE? There’s Hope for America ‘If [God’s] People …
2 Chronicles 7:14-15 — “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place.”
The verse above is what is called a “conditional” promise. It is much like the deals you often make with your own children. “IF you mow the grass, THEN I will take you to get some ice cream.”
If/then statements—the Bible is full of them.
American Christianity has become so fatalistic. Evil is engulfing this nation so rapidly that it seems to have sucked all of the faith and life out of the church. It is as if we no longer believe that the Lord has the power to do anything about our problems. But what if He did? And what if His conditional promises were still in effect? What if the Lord is waiting for US to fulfill OUR part of the deal?
IF MY PEOPLE…
Today, that seems like such a big IF…
He made it pretty simple for us. He told us what our part of the bargain was, and we know that He is a Man of His Word.
“God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?”- Numbers 23:19
Of course He is righteous. Of course God’s judgment is upon this nation. Of course our sin is a stench in the nostrils of a Holy God. Of course we don’t deserve any more mercy from Him. But…
If my people will simply mow the yard…

We will be praying in front of the U.S. Supreme Court Building on Sunday, June 14. We are going to raise up a solemn appeal to heaven that God will intervene in the marriage debate currently before the U.S. Supreme Court. We are staking our claim on Proverbs 21:1. “The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will” .
Ultimately, the marriage decision is in the hands of the Lord. Let’s appeal to heaven that He will move the heart of the king.
God’s hand of judgment has been stayed before. Let’s earnestly plead with Him to do it again.
IF MY PEOPLE…
