HERE THEY ARE: The Top Ten Enemies of Conservatives

It’s known that President Nixon had an “enemies list”.  It’s rumored, and probably true, that the Obama administration also has one.  As Americans, as a free people, we are always going to have enemies.

Presidential paranoia notwithstanding, knowing who your enemies are is key to overcoming them.

In Article VI, Clause 3 of the Constitution, all who hold office in the U.S are required to take an oath to uphold the Constitution.  For members of Congress, the oath includes the phrase “…to defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic.”  This phrase is also included in the Uniform Services Oath military personal and law enforcement take, as well as in the oath immigrants take upon becoming citizens.

The Presidential Oath Of Office is a bit different. While it does not include the “enemies” phrase, it does say “…and to the best of my abilities preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.” Thus, by default, the phrase and meaning thereof is included.

Okay, no problem knowing who our foreign enemies are, and have been in the past.  But who exactly are our “domestic enemies”?

Well, I’d like to offer up my version of a “Top Ten Domestic Enemies of Conservatism” List.  Granted, there will always be disagreement whenever a Top Ten, Best Of, or 25 Most Important Things…list is presented.  Like I said, this is my version. Your mileage may vary.  Here goes.

10.   The Department of Education
This is a cabinet level agency created in 1979 by President Carter.  It officially started operating in May, 1980. This agency brought us No Child Left Behind, and used the education grant process known as Race To The Top to encourage states to use nationalized standards such as Common Core.  Common Core has been championed by the Feds, education administrators on the state level, and teachers’ unions.  This allows these groups to have more power over curriculum than local school boards.

Control of any community’s public schools should not be controlled by the federal government, state administrations or teacher’s unions.  It’s local parents and school boards who put the time and money into the schools.  This is where the control should come from.  They and they alone know what their communities need.

9.    Higher Education
What’s going on in our colleges and universities is becoming more of a farce than a bad SNL skit.  Current examples included the pampered cupcakes at Mizzou, and the pampered rich cupcakes at Yale and Dartmouth.  Isn’t it refreshing to see adults indulge in hissy fits because they need a “safe space”, free from anything they don’t want to hear or know?

These people will eventually graduate and end up in the work force.  Do you really want to engage the services of a doctor or lawyer who needs a “time out” during stress so they can find a coloring book and watch puppy videos?  Do you want to trust a financial advisor, architect, pharmacist, or structural engineer, etc., who is more concerned about “safe spaces” than the integrity of his or her work?

In a recent Townhall.com article, “Education Disaster” (11/18/15), Walter E. Williams quotes Richard Vedder, Prof. of Economics at Ohio University as saying: “Ideological conformity is increasingly valued over free expression and empirical inquiry.”

Amen.  It’s time to cut off all federal subsidies from the tax payers to the nation’s colleges and universities entirely. Let them compete, and try to survive, in the free market.

8.   Political Correctness
It’s not too far a jump from so-called higher education to the ongoing PC nonsense.  Micro-aggressions, trigger warnings, white privilege, etc., etc., are now concepts more important in speech than standard rules of grammar.  You can’t mention ethnicity or race unless it’s about BLM protesters.  The only faith you can mention is Christianity…when you’re trashing it.

And remember, kids, no Muslim has ever committed an act of terrorism, and no one who ever breaks the law is an illegal…and we all get a participation trophy in the end.

7.   Environmentalism.
Look, I don’t advocate burning down the rain forest or polluting every pristine locale on the planet, but global warming, or climate change or whatever the phrase du jour happens to be this week, has gotten out of hand. Is Antarctica shrinking or growing?   I’ve seen satellite photos that suggest it’s ice shelf is growing.   Some say that’s wrong. It’s the same at the other end of the world.  Remember the ship that went up there to do research concerning the damage done by climate change?   They got stuck in the ice and had to be rescued.

The National  Resources Defense Council  is raging an all out campaign against the Keystone Pipeline.  Forget about jobs and revitalizing the working man’s economy–it’s all about the economy of bribery.

While I can’t give chapter and verse on this, I’ve read more than one article speculating that major Obama donor Warren Buffet has had a hand in killing the pipeline deal.  He owns BNSF Railroad, a major transporter of oil.  Even the GOP RINO leadership killed a bill that would have allowed only steel made in the U.S. to be used in the project.

And how’s this for liberal logic?  Oil spillage is not a concern, but the fact that since fuel consumption would rise due to the pipeline’s helping make oil cheaper, global warming would also increase.  Therefore, no pipeline. Add to all this the insanity and outright lies of groups like The Sierra Club, Greenpeace, Friends Of The Earth, and Earth First (to name only a few), and you’ll begin to see how strong the environmental lobby is.

One thing I’d like to know, though…what exactly is a carbon offset, why do I need one, how much, and where does the money go?

6.   The American Civil Liberties Union, or ACLU
Reams of material have already been written  about this organization, which should be called The America CRIMINAL Liberties Union.  There’s not a criminal or un-American activity they haven’t embraced.

Founded in 1920 as a non-profit, their mission statement reads:  “To defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed to every person in this country.”  Every person, that is, unless you’re conservative and/or Christian.

Go to their web site and you’ll see this:  “Become a freedom fighter.  Join the ACLU.  Defend the right to vote in the 2016 Presidential election.  Fight relentless attacks on reproductive freedom.  Push for reforms to our racially biased criminal justice system.”

Are you kidding me?   I guess it’s too hard for dead people to fill out voter registration forms, those darned fetuses put up way too much of a fight, don’t they?…and no non-white has ever committed a crime…ever. I tried to find out if the ACLU has ever been sued.  I couldn’t find any indication that they have.  Turns out they’re always the ones doing the suing, in what amounts to legalized extortion for not following their agenda.

Time for this to change.  Ban, defund, or do whatever it takes to stop the ACLU.

To Be Continued …
