Is This The NEXT Step After Transgender Friendly Bathrooms?

Listening to the hysteria, it’s easy to conclude that bathroom laws in North Carolina and Mississippi are the defining issue of our time. Certainly, a lot of people on the left want it to be.

If the defining civil rights problem of the twenty-teens is the ability of someone to use whichever bathroom he or she identifies with, that’s a good thing. No really, it is.

It’s a tacit admission that all the other evil isms out there – racism and sexism in particular – have been eradicated, and that we can now move on and address other evil isms. Like the evil ism of bathroom-genderism. Someone ought to tweet Hollaback and Black Lives Matter and let them know.

As Curt Schilling is led off towards the metaphorical gallows to pay for failing to genuflect before the transgender friendly loo, soon too the gender specific restroom will be sacrificed to appease the liberal pantheon. Then what?

Advance the clock forward to the year 2026. Almost all bathrooms across America no longer differentiate based on arcane notions of male or female. There are some that still do of course. That no-name gas station on that no-name highway somewhere still has signs posted saying “Men” and “Women”- dirty bitter clingers! There’s an Ivy League institution or five that permit their faculty to do the same thing that no-name gas station’s doing – those ridiculously smart social justice stalwarts! There is a DMV in Rhode Island where they painted over “Men” and “Women” – but when the lighting is just right the genders can still be made out from underneath the beige. Most bathrooms though are labeled “Gender Neutral Restroom”.

Following in the storied footsteps of Racism Incorporated and Sexism Incorporated, there will be LGBTQ Incorporated activists that continue to fight for the liberation of bathrooms already liberated long ago. There is a lot of money to made whether by pretending that white people are chomping at the bit to put black people back on the plantation and women back in the kitchen, or by finding structurally systemic transphobia even in gender neutral restrooms. For the battle against the evil isms to remain alive, the left will be forced to find new things to demand “rights” for.

What will the next boogeyman be? The possibilities are as endless as they are bizarre.

A decade ago, no serious person would have imagined that in 2016-bathroom equality would be all the rage. Pun intended. Fast-forward to 2026 and who knows what the next batch of evil isms might look like. Chances are, none of those evil isms will have anything to do with a certain organization that throws homosexuals off rooftops just for fun while repurposing vast swaths of the Middle East and Africa as paradise circa 632 A.D.

In 2026 will we look back at 2016 and regret the time and effort we spent on unserious things like bathroom equality while the real and defining issues of our time were metastasizing right before our eyes?
