For the millions of young voters who have become part of the legion of Bernie Sanders supporters across America, the New York Hillary Clinton primary win may only be a temporary speed bump. What Sanders has created is more than an election based upon allegiance to a political party. He has launched a government giveaway, entitlement revolution unmatched in modern times.
Just think about it.
If you have ever listened to the Sanders followers who have been interviewed, they typically respond with the mantra, “He cares about us” or “He understands us” and “He listens to us.” Of course there is one of his favorites, “The billionaires of America are on the warpath. They want more and more and more,”
If translated into political speak it means Bernie is at war with the job and career creators in America and of course the taxes that keep the government running. It means that he will give away the government store, the fixtures in the private sector store and the sign in front of the mom and pop stores all across America.
Sanders’ unworkable, budget-busting, free-college education coupled with totally free-health-care plans would put Obamacare and previous liberal tax and spend policies to shame.
Are you filling the Bern yet? It is more like is your wallet feeling the budgetary burn yet? So what is the cost to America of Sanders’ “I got your back” that his faithful followers admire? According to the Washington Examiner, it would be $19.6 trillion in tax hikes over a ten-year period.
With America’s current budget deficit hovering close to $20 trillion, Sander’s additional tax burden would collapse America’s economy like a house of cards. Why should this be so important to the GOP?
America is at a crossroads and the two political forces that are running rampant throughout the 2016 presidential primary and caucus countryside are Sanders and Trump’s supporters. They, and not their respective political establishments, are controlling the narrative this election cycle. Therefore, it means that the millions and millions of voters that want dramatic change are reading from the same revolutionary playbook. A political revolution is needed now.
Sure, Sanders may seem to not have the delegate mathematical formula in his favor at this stage of the game, but he is insisting that he is not getting out and his growing financial war chest in the tens of millions means he can carry his fight to the Democrat convention in Philadelphia in July.
With the FBI investigation of Hillary Clinton still continuing possibly into the early summer, and possible indictments of her close confidants, she may be damaged going into the city of brotherly love at the convention. Super delegates that had previously committed to her may become nervous about her coronation becoming shipwrecked. Not willing to let that happen, they and the other delegates may turn to the 74-year old socialist turned Democrat.
Again, what does that have to do with the GOP?
Here is where it gets interesting as well as relevant. Sanders does not have the perilously negative popularity poll numbers that both Hillary and the Donald have. According to a recent NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll, nearly seven-in-10 registered voters say they are unwilling to support Republican frontrunner Donald Trump while 58 percent would not vote for current Democratic delegate leader Hillary Clinton.
If the FBI decides that Clinton has to take a step off of the presidential merry-go-round and head to a federal courtroom, Sanders will emerge as the only solid people’s choice ready and certainly willing to go after Trump in the fall election campaign. This is not good news for the GOP and especially for Trump, if he is the eventual GOP presidential nominee.
According to Real Clear Politics , Sanders is beating Trump, 53.9 percent to 37.6 percent. In fact, the Vermont senator has been beating the billionaire over the last five weeks in four out of five polls by double digits.
So in an election year where up seems down and conventional political wisdom has been cast into the gutter of history, a fall election battle between the New York mogul and the Vermont socialist could become a stark reality. Do not be surprised on election day if Trump is out maneuvered by the septuagenarian Democrat who is anxious to spend your money and your children’s money while crashing the economy. After all it’s only about money, right?
