Hillary and her supporters have a problem. Bernie just won’t go away, and his supporters are planning to — horror of horrors — disrupt the Democratic convention. The rest of us can pop some popcorn, sit back with a beverage of choice, and enjoy the show. The Democrats are teetering on the verge of a meltdown.
Bernie supporters have — can you believe it? — disrupted the Nevada Democratic Convention. They booed Barbara Boxer off the stage. Boxer claimed to be frightened by them. (Is their strategy sounding familiar yet? Annoying, isn’t it?)
Just because Bernie is winning one vote after another, he is stubbornly refusing to admit defeat, disappear and coronate Hillary. How rude! What’s the point of corrupting the process with SuperDelegates if the plebes can still have their say? How gauche. The peasants are revolting — so very revolting.
And that is the attitude the Bernie crowd is railing against.
Hillary is facing stiff competition, and her people don’t like it. I don’t know how this came as a surprise to anyone. Even I predicted that Bernie’s “Ask Lesko” campaign wouldn’t be quite the cakewalk Hillary and Co. wanted it to be. But her proxies in the media (some of whom used to work for the Clintons) have treated Hillary as though she was already declared the official opponent for Donald Trump.
Not. So. Fast.
There is still some time left to decide such things. And considering the negative polling numbers, and the FBI investigation, there might be a good reason for those Superdelegates to second-guess their declared support for Hillary. She isn’t out of the woods yet.
And be sure that Bernie Supporters will make sure their voices will be heard. Already they are planning to disrupt the convention. You think Barbara Boxer was unsettled when she was booed off the stage? You thought the rift between Trump and Cruz Supporters ran deep? You haven’t seen anything yet.
Have you forgotten that political unrest is the default card the Democrat party routinely plays? That was all well and good when that unrest was turned against the *other* guys. But now they’ve got their sights set on Democratic Party insiders — royalty, even. The peasants are revolting.
They can’t put the genie back in the bottle. They have cultivated a professional grievance-class within the Democratic Party. Progressive agitators. Eat-the-rich types. Occupy Wall Street types. BlackLivesMatter types. And all their bare-knuckle, anti-social, scorched-earth politicking can be brought to bear against Hillary herself if they don’t get what they want.
This is a monster of their own creation. And they are about to be devoured by it.
