Ted Cruz is teaming up with President Obama to fly out to Dallas and will attending a memorial service for the victims of the shooting that left 5 police officers dead. Do think that this is weird?

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is planning to fly to Dallas on Air Force One with President Obama on Tuesday for a memorial service for the five police officers killed in a sniper attack last week.

Cruz was spotted by reporters in the parking lot outside the air terminal at Joint Base Andrews, where guests board the presidential aircraft.

The invitation to the Texas senator — a frequent Obama critic — is a show of unity in the wake of the attack, which dredged up divisive issues such as racism and anti-police sentiment. Former President George W. Bush, who served as the governor of Texas from 1995 to 2000, is also expected to speak at the event.
