U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch said on Wednesday she had accepted the FBI’s recommendation that no charges should be brought in the investigation of Hillary Clinton‘s personal email system.
‘I received and accepted their unanimous recommendation that the thorough, year-long investigation be closed and that no charges be brought against any individuals within the scope of the investigation,’ Lynch said in a statement.
Lynch had to step aside from actually deciding on whether Clinton should be charged when it was revealed that she had secretly met Bill Clinton in Phoenix, Arizona, on her plane.
The meeting only emerged because it was spotted by a local newspaper reporter and after a firestorm which engulfed her, she announced she would accept the FBI’s recommendation on what to do with Clinton.
Her announcement early Wednesday evening ends the possibility of Clinton being charged – but hardly ends the controversy over how she handled her official email account.
