The Prissy Critics call it “appalling”. Do you NEED a better endorsement?
Society’s self-appointed parents are telling us what movies we shouldn’t watch.
One of the harshest reviews seemed to stem from Richard Lawson at Vanity Fair, who along with the aforementioned quote, called it: ‘A shapeless, poorly edited trudge that adds some mildly appalling sexism and even a soupçon of racism to its abundant, hideously timed gun worship.’
He also wrote: ‘Suicide Squad is bad. Not fun bad. Not redeemable bad. Not the kind of bad that is the unfortunate result of artists honorably striving for something ambitious and falling short.’
They disapprove of how women are portrayed. Maybe they missed the memo: this movie is about villains. The characters are already well-established. The movie just tells a story around them.
How much do you want to bet most of these same people will dismiss Bill Clinton’s parade of women alleging sexual misconduct as “no big deal”.
