CONSERVATIVE ‘DISSIDENTS’: Big Government Politicians HATE You

by Les Weaver
Clash Daily Contributor

From Wikipedia:

A dissident, broadly defined, is a person who actively challenges an established doctrine, policy, or institution. When dissidents unite for a common cause, they often affect a dissident movement. The word has been used since 16th century in the context of religion. The noun was first used in the political sense in 1940, with the rise of such totalitarian systems as the Soviet Union. [bold added]

Obviously “dissident’ is NOT a dirty word except to tyrants. Our founding fathers were dissidents to King George! The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution encourage exercising this RIGHT! Only tyrants try to silence the citizens from peaceful disagreement.

As many of you know, for the past 23 months I have so far authored 62 “guest contributor” opinions that were published on ClashDaily.com. These opinions were either neutral or politically right leaning; these opinions to the irritation of many politicians from Federal down through my progressive State, County and City. (Dissident?)

Now to the shot across my bow:

At 82, I have been retired for a multitude of years. Like a vast number of seniors; to reduce burdened overhead and to increase liquid resource, my wife and I downscaled to a manufactured home where we own the residence but lease the property. Although we had retirement income from our previous employment and from Social Security; our liquid assets provided a cushion of financial income from interest on our savings. (We do not consider S.S. a government handout because we both paid into it for decades.) We were not rich but we were comfortable and were free of becoming a government burden.

That was until the Obama Administration. Then the interest on our decades of savings yielded less than inflation. To remain off “the public dole”, we began to dip into our savings every time an event arose that exceeded the budget norm or TRUE inflation. That norm has been exceeded every year by increases in Insurance; Medical costs; Auto licenses, Food costs, Utility increases, and more. Among that “more” has been property taxes but at a smaller rate than most other expenses. (To remove a potential “spin”, I do not include increases or decreases in levies.) Suddenly, I am notified of a selective and massive property tax increase.

Property Description: two decades old, (12’ x 17.5’) 210 sq. ft. storage building, sharing a carport roof and a breezeway away from our less than 1,525 sq. ft. manufactured home. Under permit, this storage building was approved and built more than a decade before we purchased the property and has not had ANY improvements or modifications since, except to be painted 8 yrs. ago. In 2006 the Market Value Assessment, (MVA) was $3,350. Over a decade through last year, MVA had reduced to $2,670, (depreciation?)

But just two days ago I received the Real Property Tax Statement that now the MVA on this storage building is $8,850, an increase of 331% with equivalent tax increases. Concurrently, the MVA and related taxes on the residence and even the property itself had decreased by approximately 0.1%; in line with local real estate. (Perhaps this is the first step increase in line with Clinton’s and Pelosi’s claim that conservatives must begin to pay their “fair share”.)

My liberal progressive Senators and Rep. have assured me that only conservative legislators or government employees make errors. The County, with its tax assessor, serves these powerful progressive legislators. This then leaves me with no conclusion but that this is either a deliberate and dastardly shot across my bow for being a peaceful conservative dissident or the first time this government has made error.

Yes, I am preparing appeal but again the legislators have provided to penalize a dissident. That appeal must be accompanied with a non-refundable filing fee, (substantial for those on an ever declining fixed income). That way, even if I prevail, the “progressives”, from Federal Senators and Reps, down through State, County and City tax gurus can snicker that while they were unable to “get that dissident one way, they got him another”. And it gets worse if I have to hire legal counsel to appeal above County level.

When you cast your ballot for this year, recall that Hitler came to power with only 31% of the popular vote. Don’t be that one vote that has the possibility of repeating history. I will not entertain the recourse to tyranny by rolling over and whining like a good puppy.

Rest assured that not one politician will come to our rescue as display of Honor, Honesty or Integrity. These attribute are rare in today’s government environment and will remain so until We the People clean them out and replace them with persons that serve rather than command. Oh yes, the “right to remove any government that becomes destructive to” our freedom is within the second paragraph of Declaration of Independence and ironically specifically provided for by the Second Amendment, (Bill of Rights) in the Constitution. (Could this be the true reason that the progressives wish to amend this right?)
