DEAR DUPLICITOUS DEMOCRATS: Why’re You Demonizing The SAME Russian Policies OBAMA Cherished?

Democrats. They keep moving the goalposts.

When THEIR guy was in power, the Russians were our BFFs, dontcha know?

Obama made a big deal about ‘hitting the reset button’.

Obama was caught in that ‘hot mic’ moment telling Russia’s Medvedev (who promised to ‘transmit that information to Vladimir’) that he (Obama) would ‘have more flexibility after the election’. That translates to having an ACTUAL ‘secret agenda’ in case you work for CNN and couldn’t quite pick up on that. Video:

When Romney debated Obama, and Romney named Russia as a major Geo-political threat, the media laughed and laughed with Obama’s quip:

Ha, ha, ha.

Russian threat. So funny.

Except the Ukraine wasn’t laughing.

Obama ‘gave Rusia a Gift’ (Romney’s words) with his scrapping of the Missile Defence. Obama blamed Gates, which was weird:

“While there certainly were some in the State Department and the White House who believed the third site in Europe was incompatible with the Russian ‘reset,’ we in Defense did not,” Gates wrote in Duty. “Making the Russians happy wasn’t exactly on my to-do list.”

Love it or loathe it, it was ‘good’ policy for Obama (in the media’s view), for Obama NOT to send weapons to Ukraine and yet somehow — now that there’s an (R) after the President’s name — Trump holding to the same priorities is evidence that he’s a puppet of the Kremlin.

This attempt to equate Trump’s opposition to arming Ukraine with some sort of treasonous allegiance to Putin masks a rather critical fact: namely, that the refusal to arm Ukraine with lethal weapons was one of Barack Obama’s most steadfastly held policies. The original Post article that reported the RNC platform change noted this explicitly:

Of course, Trump is not the only politician to oppose sending lethal weapons to Ukraine. President Obama decided not to authorize it, despite recommendations to do so from his top Europe officials in the State Department and the military.

Even NPR — no friend of Trump — picked up on this and the same point:

Republicans in Congress have approved providing arms to the Ukrainian government but the White House has resisted, saying that it would only encourage more bloodshed.

It’s a rare Obama administration policy that the Trump campaign seems to agree with. —TheIntercept

Whoops! Here’s yet ANOTHER point of overlap between Comrade Obama and that Russian policy.

The general Russia approach that Democrats now routinely depict as treasonous – avoiding confrontation with and even accommodating Russian interests, not just in Ukraine but also in Syria – was one of the defining traits of Obama’s foreign policy. This fact shouldn’t be overstated: Obama engaged in provocative acts such as moves to further expand NATO, non-lethal aid to Ukraine, and deploying “missile defense” weaponry in Romania. But he rejected most calls to confront Russia. That is one of the primary reasons the “foreign policy elite” – which, recall, Obama came into office denouncing and vowing to repudiate – was so dissatisfied with his presidency. —TheIntercept

So can we expect the media start chasing all over creation to show connections between the Democrats — including the holdovers from Obama’s administration — and, say, the Russian ambassador that sat with them during Trump’s speech?

A few days in, I went to meet with an early Obama appointee who had since become disillusioned. He saw much in common between the skeptical dovishness of Obama and the grand but vague America Firstism promised by Trump. Both considered the 2003 invasion of Iraq a big mistake and the entanglements of the Middle East a waste of time and money. Both were weary of America footing the bill for the defense of the well-heeled countries of Europe and Asia; both came to office looking for better relations with Russia. “There is a lot of continuity between them,” he insisted. “Both are promoting a minimalist, anti-interventionist foreign policy. Trump says a lot of what Obama thinks—it’s just he says it in a much more crass way.”Politico

Continuity?

Similarity?

What is laudable, Peace-Prize-winning ‘best President ever’ stuff…

Is somehow ‘Puppet Of The Kremlin’ stuff when there’s a Republican in the White House.

It’s almost like the media are being dishonest, or something, isn’t it?

Share if the Press (D) doesn’t even NOTICE their hypocrisy anymore.
