LOCK THEM UP? What Should Texas Do With ‘Sanctuary City’ Officials BREAKING U.S. Law?

What does the rule of law mean or even the concept of law and order if public officials break laws that offend their liberal snowflake attitudes? Well, Texas is preparing to penalize and lock up sanctuary city officials who refuse to enforce immigration laws in order to protect illegal immigrant criminals.

While the nation’s liberals attack judges and their mainstream media circle of network pundits and anchors who support defiant lawlessness of sanctuary city officials, the Lone Star state is preparing to end the lawbreaker’s reign now. According to the Associated Press, Texas Republicans are intent on banning “Sanctuary Cities” in the state by passing legislation that will provide for the jailing of police chiefs and sheriffs for not cooperating fully with federal immigration authorities.

In effect, it will frankly bind these officials to their oath of office to protect and defend the people of their city, county or jurisdiction, which they swore to uphold. The mere fact that public officials in Texas or any other state could so casually defy their state constitution is in and of itself is a criminal violation that deserves swift and severe punishment by the state. No public official is above the law.

Under the Obama administration, open defiance of federal immigration law enforcement by local city and county officials was not only overlooked, but in far too many cases it was openly encouraged. The Texas bill would allow the state to withhold funding from local governments for acting as sanctuary cities, and at the same time become the first state to actually criminalize the behavior of sheriffs and police chiefs and allow them to be jailed for not assisting in helping to enforce immigration law, according to Hot Air.

The bottom line: these lawbreaking officials could lose their job!

One can only imagine the howls of anger and disgust that will erupt from the pro-illegal immigrant chorus like the ACLU, and liberals in congress. Fortunately, Texas state officials, unlike far too many other states, does not give a flying rip about what liberals in congress or anywhere else feel, think or protest about. In Texas, the law is the law and it will be enforced, no matter what snowflake liberals believe as they cower in their safe places.

While Texas is at it, maybe they should also consider targeting the city councils and imbecilic mayors that wantonly defy the federal law as well by passing or signing into law sanctuary city or county protection for these illegal immigrants and criminals. This type of additional language to the law would choke off the illegal practices and protection right at the source.
