Another Hollywood leftist has opened his big mouth in support of racism. Actor Mark Ruffalo wants NBC and MSNBC to end “white conservative hiring.” This is racist, pure and simple. Would it be okay to advocate that Fox News should stop hiring liberal blacks? The Left condones Ruffalo’s behavior because the Left is hell bent on demonizing white people and especially white men. Under the guise of “diversity” and “social justice,” the Left is attempting to divide the country into racial and ethnic enclaves. Fifty years of advances in race relations are being wiped out by Ruffalo and his ideological cousins.
Dr. Martin Luther King is famous for his dream of a colorblind America. “I have a dream,” he said, “that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.” A beautiful sentiment with a vision for an inclusive country. Dr. King’s objective was equality. That is what the civil rights movement was all about. The Left’s campaign for “diversity” is destroying everything Dr. King and his supporters fought for on the streets of Selma. The Left is not seeking equality. When people like Ruffalo advocate diversity, THEY WANT people to be judged by the color of their skin. In the multicultural world of Ruffalo and company, character becomes irrelevant as the Left divides Americans into competing groups based on color and ethnicity. If Dr. King were alive today, he would be the first to recognize that his dream is being shattered into a million tiny fragments.
The irony is that NBC and especially MSNBC are clearly left-leaning news outlets that hire predominantly liberal spokespeople. But that is not good enough to satisfy Mr. Ruffalo. He objects to the few conservatives who have managed to sneak in, blaming them because a chosen handful of his favorite leftists have not been hired. The meaning of diversity has been perverted by the Left to mean that special privileges should be accorded to certain protected classes of people. When you remove the rhetorical veneer, diversity implies intolerance of white people. Ruffalo makes no attempt to hide it. The Left’s version of diversity attempts to divide Americans between oppressors—heterosexual, Christian, white males—and victimized groups of minorities and women. “It is the old Marxist wine in new bottles,” says author David Horowitz, “and the results are bound to be similar.”
Instead of making everyone feel they are part of a unified American social structure, diversity plays into the leftist strategy of “divide and conquer.” The real driving force behind the push for social justice is the desire to solidify the power of the Leftist minority over the majority. Where civil rights leaders once called for equal rights, the Left calls for special rights. Welcome to identity politics, where you take sides based on your race, religion, sex, ethnicity, social background, etc. The American value of respect for the individual is replaced by tribalism. The Huns are at the gates of Rome once again. All this moralizing and carrying on in the name of diversity, social justice, multiculturalism, and so on, amounts to nothing more than a naked grab for power by special interest groups.
Apparently, Andrew Lack, NBC’s news chief, wants to hire more conservative voices to make NBC and MSNBC more balanced in their news reporting. This conflicts with Ruffalo’s concept of diversity, where everyone thinks alike and there is no diversity of opinion. If his objectives are successful, we will have no diversity of thought in the media. Only one point-of-view will be accepted, and that is the leftist point-of-view. “How cowardly to cast divergent opinion as hateful,” said Greg Gutfeld on Fox. If he really believes all this progressive nonsense, Gutfeld suggested, “why doesn’t Ruffalo accelerate diversity by rejecting roles and allow people of color to replace him. He’s a selfish old white male and Hollywood should stop hiring him.” Hypocrites like Ruffalo want the leftist agenda to apply to you and to me but not to them.
