What About A Woman’s Right To Choose … Her Licence Plate?

The battle to protect the Right to Life has entered the Life License Plates arena when Republican Michigan Governor voted against the pro-life plate. One would expect that from a Democrat governor, but according to Life News Gov. Rick Snyder caved to Planned Parenthood pressure to say no on Choose Life license plates.
To say this is a disappointment would be an understatement, because pro-life forces throughout the state of Michigan would have benefited from a public showing of their prolife stance. Right to Life of Michigan President Barbara Listing was taken aback by Snyder’s action because the law would have designated sales from the plates be earmarked for programs that assist pregnant moms and babies.
Was he trying to advance a re-election opportunity which does not exist for him since governors are term limited? Or, was he showing signs of being pro-abortion, since his pro-life support in the state has been consistently inconsistent. He seems to have landed squarely on the side of Michigan pro-abortion forces that lobbied heavily against the bill.
Not only would this license plate have been a symbolic gesture for pro-life supporters in the state, but according to Right to Life Michigan, the state Planned Parenthood cartel did not like the idea that drivers would be helping pro-life pregnancy centers. This seems convoluted, because these abortion activists were against private citizens supporting pro-life efforts, while these same baby killers want the public to use their tax dollars to murder innocent babies in the mother’s womb.
This is not only a shameful condition but it is also a mockery of justice. The very fact that Governor Snyder could not see how his veto was actually direct action to weaponize abortionists in his state is tragic.
Pro-life leader Listing had been hopeful that Snyder would have wanted to see mothers and unborn babies being assisted through drivers who were compassionate to care. She explained, “We hoped [the governor] would recognize this wonderful opportunity to provide care to pregnant women in need and help suicide prevention efforts.” Listing added “The support for the Choose Life plate is still there and it will happen in Michigan, it’s just a matter of time. We look forward to taking the issue up with our next governor,” reported Life News.
The state House passed the Choose Life bill in May and if the governor had shown some leadership and signed the measure, state Sen. Patrick Colbeck, stressed the Choose Life fund would have been positive. Sen. Colbeck, lead sponsor of the bill, explained, “the proceeds would go towards a special Choose Life fund, that would support life affirming services such as the services that you would find at a pregnancy resource center.” He added, “They take care of mothers facing unplanned pregnancy, provide for daily needs,” reported Life News.
