A Pennsylvania man with ties to the Middle East opened fire targeting law enforcement officers in Harrisburg, PA on Friday afternoon.
Ahmed Aminamin El-Mofty, 51, has been identified as the shooter. El-Mofty recently returned from a trip to the Middle East.
Federal authorities are investigating after a Pennsylvania man with ties to the Middle East opened fire on police officers in three different locations in the state’s capital on Friday afternoon. Dauphin County District Attorney Ed Marsico said it remains under investigation whether the shootings were acts of terror.
One officer was injured in the spate of shootings, but her injuries are considered non-life-threatening, police said.
Police identified the alleged shooter as Ahmed Aminamin El-Mofty, 51, and Marsico said he recently returned from a trip to the Middle East.

The first shooting, near the State Capitol building, occurred at 4:10 p.m. when El-Mofty allegedly opened fire on a Capitol Police officer in his cruiser. The bullets hit the vehicle several times, but missed the officer in it.
The second shooting was approximately half an hour later, one female police officer was hit once. She is in good condition in the hospital.
Capitol Police pursued the suspect into a residential neighborhood. Police allege that El-Mofty then pulled out two handguns and fired at the officers. None of the officers were struck, but officers returned fire and killed the suspect.
Dauphin County District Attorney Ed Marsico held a press conference identifying the suspect and seeking assistance from the public.
