Most Americans believe racial segregation is a thing of the past.
Images of racial diversity dominate our television screens. Commercials, newscasts, reality shows, and entertainment programs present false images of a diverse America.
The fact is: Racial segregation is more common in parts of our country today than during the Jim Crow era.
A case is point is zip code 38109 in Memphis, Tennessee. This neighborhood is about 98 percent black. It is a virtual African village plopped in the heart of America.
There are many such black neighborhoods throughout our nation.
Tragically, these black communities have been abandoned by privileged white liberals who prefer to live in isolated suburban enclaves. Token Negro neighbors serve to validate a false sense of white virtue.
Meanwhile, the black residents of zip code 38109 must contend with the indignities of racial segregation.
Specifically, the community learned this week that their local Kroger grocery store in closing. Theft is the apparent reason.
A neighboring zip code, 38114, is about 97 percent black. The Kroger store in that neighborhood is closing as well. The residents are literally being abandoned.
There is nothing preventing white liberals from relocating into these desperate neighborhoods and freely redistributing their wealth by supporting local businesses.
That, of course, won’t happen. The reason? White liberals are both hypocrites and racists. They advocate racial diversity but practice racial divergence.
An example is the concentration of wealthy liberals who dominate Malibu, California. It is the whitest community in the Los Angeles area. There are no Kroger stores in Malibu. There are, however, four trendy, tidy, and well stocked grocers there: Vintage Grocers, Pacific Coast Greens, a store called Raphs, and another called Pavilions. The population of Malibu is about 13,000. The combined populations of the aforementioned black Memphis neighborhoods are about 70,000. Where are the social justice warriors when you need them?
U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders in another example. He lives in Vermont; the whitest state in America.
Michael Moore, the outspoken white liberal known for producing social documentaries, lived in a $5-million home near Traverse City, Michigan; a city that is 94.4 percent white and 0.7 percent black.
Chappaqua, New York, home of Hillary and Bill Clinton, is 91.8 percent white with a black population under one percent.
So, flip on your television, sit back in your easy chair, and enjoy the diversity. That’s the only place you will find it.
