Dear America: Did You Know That ‘Coin Tosses’ Are Now ‘Racist’
Did you hear about the kerfuffle over who would carry the flag for Team USA at the Olympics? It included accusations of racism. Shocker.
What happened?
I thought we were in a ‘post-racial era’ after electing a progressive black President twice.
No? Race relations are worse today than in November of 2008, you say?
Thanks, Obama.
Along with milk, the Betsy Ross flag, the state of New Jersey and a hundred other things, coin tosses are now racist.
So claims Shani Davis, a five-time Olympian, and four-time medalist speed-skater. Also, apparently ahead of those impressive accomplishments, it should be noted that Davis is black.
Davis had tied 4-4 with four-time Olympic luger and bronze medalist Erin Hamlin — who is white. Davis, who has won two gold and two silver medals for speed skating implied that the tie-breaking coin-toss as ‘racist.’
Davis, 35, a five-time Olympian who has won two gold medals and two silver medals, lost after a vote among sports federations represented at the games ended in a draw.
A U.S. speed skating spokesman said Davis had not originally planned to march in the parade of nations later on Friday, but would have made an exception if he had been chosen as flag-bearer.
‘Shani won’t march in the parade. It was never part of his plans. He is fully focused on his first race and is concentrating on that,’ the spokesman said.
The tie decision was resolved by a coin toss that Davis apparently didn’t show up for.
In an angry tweet, Davis, took a shot at Hamlin, the holder of a single bronze medal.
‘I am an American and when I won the 1000m in 2010 I became the first American to 2-peat in that event,’ Davis wrote on Twitter in the early hours of Thursday.
He then slammed Team USA for ‘dishonorably’ tossing a coin to decide who would have the honor of carrying the flag.

Davis has since made his Twitter account private, but here is a screenshot:
When you feel like you ‘deserve’ to win a coin toss because of your race, let’s be clear — you’re an idiot. Sorry, that was disrespectful. Let’s honor Davis properly — you’re a 2-time Olympic Gold Medalist Idiot.
Many on social media reacted to Davis claiming that the coin toss was ‘dishonorable’:
Here at ClashDaily, we’re going to take a different tack — the one that the left loves to take. Does Davis not realize that the era of black men is over? I mean, Barry’s out of office, and the race-baiting is just so very 2013.
It’s a ‘Woman’s Turn’.
What with Hillary’s attempt to break that final ‘Glass Ceiling’, the Women’s March, #MeToo, #TimesUp, and cries from millionaire actresses for the closing of the ‘Gender Pay Gap’, and women all over the world demanding for the dismantling of the patriarchy everywhere except for Iran, Saudi Arabia, or other parts of the Middle East, it seems only appropriate that a woman carry the flag.
It’s time.
Ok, I was just kidding.
I can’t write that kind of B.S. with a straight face.
I’m a conservative, and I don’t believe that we should judge people on the color of their skin or hand over an honor to someone ‘because it’s time’. That’s utterly ridiculous. I don’t believe that people should be seen as members of groups instead of as individuals.
Frankly, I think I’m in good company with that position.
