The lunacy of the left has been on display in multiple events over the last week. The values espoused by Democrat politicians and their eager accomplices, the mainstream media, defy logic and twist truth in ways that can only be described as sickening and repugnant. What comes from the kitchen of the American left is a toxic concoction of lies and distortion. Here is just a sampling of their latest destructive delicacy.
Fulfilling a campaign promise and becoming the first American president to do so, President Trump moved the US Embassy to Jerusalem and recognized Jerusalem as the capital. Hamas, the well-known terrorist group, promised swift action and violence in response. Violent riots erupted on the Gaza border, clearly spear-headed by this terrorist organization. The response of the American left? The New York Times headline blared, “”Israel Kills Dozens at Gaza Border as U.S. Embassy Opens in Jerusalem.” The Washington Post wrote about, “”tens of thousands of Palestinians,” of which “many came to peacefully demonstrate, bringing their children and carrying flags. Food stalls sold snacks and music blared.” The New York Post topped them all when it ran a front-page picture of Ivanka Trump attending the U.S. embassy opening, contrasted with a picture of the violence in Gaza with the headline: “Daddy’s Little Ghoul.” It’s a clear distortion of the truth.
David Friedman, US Ambassador to Israel, in a recent op-ed piece maintained that violent riots on the Gaza border, which coincided with the US embassy opening in Jerusalem last Monday, were unrelated to the US move, but were rather the culmination of the “March of Return” protests that began weeks earlier. He also blasted the dishonest media in their split-screen reporting of the opening of the embassy and the violence by noting that it was misleading to viewers because the two incidents were taking place sixty miles apart. Truth, however, proved a bit inconvenient to the left and was masked. Covering for Hamas and bashing Israel is what the left serves up in the Middle East.
The bitter dish is not limited to foreign policy. At a meeting with sheriffs on May 16th, President Trump responded to a comment by Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims, who brought up the gang MS-13 while expressing concern about a California law, by noting, “You wouldn’t believe how bad these people are. These aren’t people. These are animals. And we’re taking them out of the country at a level and at a rate that’s never happened before.” It was and is obvious that the president was referencing the vile MS-13 gang, whose brutal and deadly actions are notorious when he used the word “animals”. That, though, did not stop the left from attacking the president and even defending MS-13.
Jennifer Rubin, a Washington Post reporter, tweeted, “this is disgusting. and his evangelical sycophants will applaud his utter dehumanization of men, women and children.” John Harwood of CNBC tweeted, “however repugnant their actions, MS-13 gang members are human beings IMHO.” This ridiculous logic was echoed by Cecile Richards and Planned Parenthood. In a statement dripping with irony that they will never understand, Planned Parenthood tweeted, “Immigrants are people. They are our neighbors, our friends, and members of the Planned Parenthood family. One hateful man will never, ever speak for all of us.” So, just to be clear, the left is for sensitivity to Hamas and MS-13, but not Israel and the unborn. These appear to be essential in their recipe for disaster.
Another ingredient in this contorted confection is abortion specifically. On May 18th it was announced that the Trump administration would move to formally cut off federal funding to family health care clinics that share the same medical facilities as abortion providers. Experts said the decision could dramatically impact Planned Parenthood facilities specifically. Conservatives and Pro-lifers rejoiced at this news. The left? Not so much.
Hillary Clinton and DNC Chairman Tom Perez both blasted the decision, acknowledging that access to abortion is a foundational principle of the Democrat party. Clinton told a crowd assembled at a women’s rally on May 18th, “Democrats stand for a women’s right to choose and if you believe that you have to vote for Democrats.” The left has embraced abortion now more than ever.
A website exists that extols women to #Shoutyourabortion. The site proclaims, “Abortion is normal. Our stories are ours to tell.” It is hard to read stories that glorify abortion and even harder to understand why anyone would be happy about doing so, but to the left, celebrating abortion seems to be just the right spice to season this malignant meal.
What is our response to what the left is serving up? Reject it. Send it back. Do so with no hesitation or doubt. To do that, we must be engaged and vote. If the left wins, what we’ll be eating is nothing short of disgusting.
