Counselors Are Treating Clients with ‘Trump Anxiety’ Who Have ‘Fear Of The World Ending’

Written by Wes Walker on July 30, 2018

Depending on your politics, it may be ‘the end of the world as you know it’ or you may feel fine.

The media’s manufactured panic over Big Bad Trump seems to be having an effect.

Not in getting rid of the President, as those who loathe him may have hoped, but in having their fact-free emotional ‘news’ stories whip those minds foolish enough to believe them into a panic.

There was a time when saying ‘Trump Derangement Syndrom” would make people roll their eyes. But more and more anxiety cases have Trump as a common denominator.

One patient asked, “Is he going to blow us all up?”

It was a rhetorical question — one that predated Trump’s threats of a showdown with Iran this week. But if the question wasn’t meant in earnest, the politically induced anxiety LaMotte is hearing about from her clients certainly is, says the founder of the D.C. Counselling and Psychotherapy Center.

She refers to it as a “collective anxiety” among patients who feel on edge about how potentially dire the president’s decisions could be.

“There is a fear of the world ending,” she said. “It’s very disorienting and constantly unsettling.”

What’s been called “Trump Anxiety Disorder” has been on the rise in the months following the election, according to mental-health professionals from across the country who report unusually high levels of politics-related stress in their practices.

She goes so far as to draw a parallel with children raised by certain kinds of parents with a dysfunctional relationship with the kid.

Say what now? Since when is the Head of State ‘our daddy’?  News flash: Chris Rock saying Obama and Michelle were the ‘mom and dad’ of the nation notwithstanding… the President is not our dad.

Maybe the problem is more serious than even the shrink thought. Maybe elevating the government to a nearly religious status, and the President at the top of that hierarchy itself is the problem.

From Trump’s detractors, LaMotte has been struck by how much their anxieties resemble those of patients raised by a parent with a personality disorder — someone who would display traits like “grandiosity, excessive attention-seeking and severe lack of empathy.”

“Whether it’s conscious or not, I think we look to the president of the United States as a psychological parent,” she said.

And WE are the ‘crazy ones’ for wanting a smaller government???

Though not an official diagnosis, the symptoms include feeling a loss of control and helplessness, and fretting about what’s happening in the country and spending excessive time on social media, she said.

Could it be that the solution just revealed itself?

Maybe take a break from watching MSNBC, listening to CNN, and take a break from reading that favorite leftist website. That by itself could cause many these panicky symptoms to ‘magically’ drop off.

Instead of living as Chicken Little, and believing the alarmist Media(D) that the sky really IS falling — how about they look for a news source that doesn’t deliberately leave out the good news.

Start with THIS STORY, for example, and see the kind of kick-ass week America just had last week through more optimistic eyes.

It recounts some of the good things accomplished by Trump —  including unfinished business going back to the Truman era! — that will provide some much-needed perspective for anyone who’s convinced the world’s just minutes away from blowing up.

Of course, the media has never been known for slinging alarmist BS before, have they?

Nah. Of course not.
