The Left is infused with a kind of drug concocted through decades of anger, paranoia, resentment, victimhood and fear, and, the Left has made a quest of infusing society with that drug.
The Left has been successful convincing at least half our people to be addicted to this drug, that they have every reason to nurture these “virtues” while condemning anyone who “just says no!”
Consequently, when a brilliant, sober, learned, decent, honest, admirable jurist is nominated to the Supreme Court, the drug-addicted Left goes absolutely berserk, paranoid and angrily suspicious that anyone so respectable must surely pose a threat.
This paranoia is further explained in part by the Left’s ignorance driving more bent thinking.
A jurist focused on protecting and defending the Constitution is one committed to preserving everyone’s liberty. This is a concept foreign to the Leftist mind. Leftists have spent their lives defending the liberty of only certain classes and races of people. The idea of defending everyone’s freedom cannot be entertained by these black and white thinkers. They’ve believed for decades that there are only good guys and bad guys and the only good guys to be found are in their camp.
Therefore, for black and white thinkers, a man like Judge Kavanaugh must be a fraud, a liar, an enemy. No one could possibly be serious about universal liberty under the rule of law! Liberty and Justice for ALL?
Druggies ask: What’s the angle? What is the payoff? How can such a belief be used as a political weapon? There must be some con going on! This must cater to the bad guys! It’s a conspiracy!
Furthermore, the fact Kavanaugh was nominated by President Trump is for Leftist ears a dog whistle of another kind. Obviously, according to Dick Durbin and Corey Booker, anyone nominated by a Nazi must be a Nazi. The drug has convinced Durbin and Booker and all Democrat Senators on the judiciary committee that Trump is a Nazi, an absurdity of course, but one firmly promoted by people who have no options. They are addicted.
Until they admit they are addicted and powerfulness over their addiction, they will see secret hand signs on camera, they will freak out in hearings, they will display menses in public, consider the New York Times scripture, Woodward a prophet, and worship the Kenyan Mirage, so long as he delivers the next hit.
Recovery requires intense honesty but denial imprisons the addict in self-deception.
And it is always someone else’s fault.
