The same woman who tells us confidently that we will ‘just pay’ whatever amount is needed to pay for her pie-in-the-sky social programs has a problem with adding 25k taxpayers to the economy.
She views new investment and new jobs with a Bernie Sanders skepticism… forgetting who it is that pays for all the taxpayer-funded initiatives she loves so much.
The two new centers aren’t even built yet, and they are already looking to put the squeeze on Amazon.
Considering what a friend Jeff Bezos has been to the Democrat party, she’s not particularly grateful.
Amazon, the world’s most valuable company is set to bring approximately 25,000 jobs to New York City. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the newly-elected Congressional Representative for New York’s 14th District has made the claim that her community is ‘outraged.’
New York City and Northern Virginia will be the homes for Amazon.com Inc.’s second and third headquarters, according to people familiar with the matter, ending a more than yearlong public contest that started with 238 candidates and ended with a surprise split of its so-called HQ2.
Amazon is dividing the second headquarters evenly between New York’s Long Island City and Arlington County’s Crystal City neighborhoods, which are both located directly across from the major city centers. The company plans to evenly split the offices with as many as 25,000 employees.
The decision effectively gives Amazon a major presence in three coastal hubs that politically lean left, at a time when tech companies are under scrutiny for their perceived elitism and liberal social views.

Amazon is a billion-dollar company. The idea that it will receive hundreds of millions of dollars in tax breaks at a time when our subway is crumbling and our communities need MORE investment, not less, is extremely concerning to residents here.

Displacement is not community development. Investing in luxury condos is not the same thing as investing in people and families.
Shuffling working class people out of a community does not improve their quality of life.

Lastly, this isn’t just about one company or one headquarters. It’s about cost of living, corps paying their fair share, etc.

Imagine if this hostility were enough to make Bezos start rethinking his politics? It would be a pretty big deal. He owns WaPo, after all.
It’s instinctive. They can’t help it. Leftist politicians know that THEIR power is derived from YOUR money. The more of YOUR money they get, the more powerful they will become.
